  • Best shockumentary movie

If you don't know what the genre name means, I can explain a bit: it means real documentary movies or supposedly dockumentary movies (a. k. a. mockumentary) which are scary or gore and in thus could shock people (and the main think that differs shockumentary from simple dockumentary is that in some places you start to believe that the film was actually made to gross people, not to tell something to people as documentaries do). Some examples:

Africa Addio (Farewell Africa) is about removal of colonial forces from African states. It shows actual footage of these times, major clashes between Europeans and Africans, whites cruelity at start and blacks psychotic governments installed later, which were as cruel if not more cruel, also executions and massacres by these governments.

Death Scenes shows only black and white pictures of dead bodies and a former police photographer, who taken these pictures, explaining how the people died, were the criminals caught, etc.

Za Ginipiggu (Guinea pig), unlike first movies isn't real and it shows a gang capturing and tortuing some girl. It is made so that the viewer would think he is watching a snuff film.

I've never seen a trace of any of these. I don't think they're available. How did you happen on them?

Dr. Stranglelove, if you are interested in obtaining shocumentary, visit one of these links:

Faces of Death - http://www.facesofdeath.com , the official site - you can read and buy these movies

Africa Addio (Farewell Africa) - most likely won't get this as this is now not sold anywhere. It shows the truth about bloodshed in Africa, not only from whites, but also black governments and tries to guess the answer why Africa is underdeveloped blaming both sides. Apparently black communities didn't liked that and insisted removing of this film. I didn't watched it myself BTW, I am just reposting info I gathered on net.

Mondo Cane - well, this is a classic, I don't think you could be able not to be heard of it. It is the first shockumentary.

      Traces of Death - https://www.diatribe.com.br/putresci...cesdeath.shtml

About others I am not sure, but just put name of the film and "shockumentary" in google and you'll probably get answers... Also you can try writting name of the movie and .com (for US movies), .jp or .it (examples (not sure if these surely exist, didn't checked): http://www.facesofgore.com , http://www.zaginipiggu.jp ) in your browser. Sometimes this helps, although I don't have time to check all the names...

      Hope that helps...

Just think of it as films for those who like watching actual people die real deaths*. Disgusting!

*As opposed to actors faking it.

I'm italian and yet never heard about them in my entire life
I will never understand why some people on Apolyton find you so clever. You're predictable, mundane, and a google-whore and the most observant of us all know this. Your battles of "wits" rely on obscurity and whenever you fail to find something sufficiently obscure, like this, you just act like a 5 year old. Congratulations, molly.

Faces of Death is widely available and very popular. Haven't heard about the other ones.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

My personal favorite is "Is Paris Burning" (iirc). It's interesting, well cut and often amusing as hell.

The best stuff could be found at alt.binaries.grotesque, but lately, they've not been uploading many vids- mostly just pics.

Then again, I haven't been visiting it lately since the shock value has diminished for me.

I know the book, which is about the German commander who refused Hitler's orders to raze Paris in retreat. Or is this something entirely different?

                            I've heard they are fake.

I have seen websites with what looked like real death pictures. executions and nasty accidents.

I'm not into seeing a guys head blown apart. But maybe that's just me

I have seen faces of death movies. They seem tame compared to these pictures I have seen. What was the name of that site? Rotten something. They also had pictures of disfigurements if that is your thing.

I don't know any of these, but I do know a Belgian movie (which was quite successful here): C'est arrivé près de chez vous

It's a documentary on a serial killer, and he's showing how to get rid of a body, what to look out for, who to rob (and then kill, because he sees himself as a normal guy having a job, so he just does it for the money, but clearly he is a psycho), etc...

In the beginning the cameraman, interviewer and soundman are little bit afraid of him, but after a while, they become more and more used to the guy and become friends and ... accomplices (and one after another crewman dies as well btw ..)

A great movie, even though there is some gore in it (and it's a black/white coloured film) it's probably not as shocking as rotten.com or so, but it's still pretty shocking (and hilarious)
