I laugh at people and tell them to **** off. But in a friendly way.
    I'm a stubborn bastard, so if I don't want to do something, I won't.
I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).

My friends just quit trying to get me to smoke (all sorts of crazy stff) and drink after a very short while, as they had some respect for me. God knows they tried, but they stopped just short of the insult phase ("come on pusy... ***! do it!..."). now they leave me alone when they go to parties on the weekends so i can play video games and watch star trek re-runs by myself! all night long... [and train my mind and body in unarmed combat, knife tricks, and riflery...]

When others that i know less have tried to peer pressure me, i tend to react with irritation at first, and then violently if they persist.

I'm surprised at the number of people who mention drug use as one of the things on which their peers try to exert pressure. A fair number of my friends smoke pot (and one or two do a bit more besides), but none of them has ever (in my memory) tried to pressure me into joining them in their endeavours.

The only two things that I remember being pressured over in recent memory (i.e. within the past four-or-five years) are my clothes ("You dress like a slob! A very comfortable slob, granted, and a very economical slob, true, but a slob nonetheless!") and my choice in parking spaces ("No, you must drive around for ten minutes looking for a better space, that way we can walk twenty fewer yards!"). Both were definite "**** you and die" situations.

Back when they used to have all of those "Resist the peer pressure, don't do drugs" Public Service Announcements, where child actors would pull their "If you don't do drugs then you're not cool!" or "What are you, chicken?" schtick, I'd always just sit there wondering, "Who the hell are these kids, and why have I never met them?" I still haven't met them. Maybe I've got "NARC" written on my forehead or something...

well, I have not been pressured heavily to use pot (some slight pressure)

and I was not pressured to drink until last year

so as a sophmore in college I would have agreed with you

When I was a kid, it was affecting me a bit. Not very much, but I based some of my opinions on what other thought. Now if someone tries the same thing on me, I retaliate by doing the exact opposite to a point where it's still not too childish .

I hate people, I don't care what they think... so peer pressure is irrelevant.
To us, it is the BEAST.
