  • Early-mid 90s Songs That Have Lasted

Just began listening to Definitely Maybe by Oasis again (I always choose a CD at random to take with me when I go somewhere for a few days).

    Slide Away is class.

That hasn't lasted. I was hoping to avoid all the crappy early nineties "grunge" bands.

There are at least 20 more influential bands than Nirvana since 1985.

Not here in America. Obviously they haven't lasted (iyo) in GB, but here in America... yeah, Smells like Teen Spirit.

If that song had lasted, it wouldn't be played on a cheese night in Aberystwyth Town's Student's Union.

Er... if it hadn't lasted it wouldn't still be played. Ignore Boddies, Smells Like Teen Spirit has definitely lasted.

              Debaser by the Pixies.

Pretty much anything the Stone Roses have done.

"I Am The Resurrection" by the Stone Roses. Still played to huge acclaim in indie student clubs across the land. Okay, well primarily in Manchester but still...

I was absolutely ashamed to go to an "indie" night in Aber t'other day and find that the DJ had no Smiths, no Stone Roses, no Happy Mondays, no Housemartins (a friend's request, not mine!)...

And the worst part...no Bez wannabes.

Then it probably wasn't a good idea to post a thread titled "Early-mid 90s Songs That Have Lasted".
