  • 49'rs fire Mariucci!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mariucci went 57-39 in San Francisco, with a remarkably brief rebuilding period sandwiched between four seasons of double-digit victories. This season, San Francisco went 10-6 and reclaimed the NFC West title before making the second-biggest comeback in NFL playoff history to beat the New York Giants 39-38.

in other NFL new Dallas Cowboy kills 2 people

Police considered more charges Wednesday against Dallas Cowboys defensive back Dwayne Goodrich, accused of speeding through an accident scene, striking and killing two people who were trying to rescue a man from a burning car, then driving away.

      [edit: on Mariucci:]

Too bad, but oh well, just the way these things go...

Maybe he'll find more fortune in Jacksonville.

      [on Cowboy:]
      Ouch...

I knew he was doomed. The minute the General Manager and the Owner swear that it is a "media" story only and that there is no way that he wouldn't be back next year, I knew he was toast. They only waited 3 days since making those statements to the press

Dumb, dumb, dumb. Mooch was a great coach. I'd like to see someone else try to deal with Owens. Look at how well people dealt with Moss in Minnesota .

Stupidity and high expectations are the only things I guess that would make people go thru with such a decision.

Rumor has it that maybe BiG Bill himself will come back and coach.

I'd like to see him deal with T.O.

Mooch dealt with Owens? How? Seems he ignored everything to me, or he didn't have the power to suspend or fine him.

Watch Terell run wild over the next coach. Mooch never caved to the whole 'throw to Owens every play' crap.

he handled it better than Minnesota dealth with Moss.

At least T.O. kept performing at a high level. No dropped passes like the chump Moss.

I'm glad, I never thought he was a good coach. Bring back BILL WALSH! Hell, give Parcells a chance if you can't get Walsh. Get Holmgren, maybe they can get Dungy, we need some defense in SF!

Berz, all the coaches you mentioned are taken already, and wouldn't be a good fit with Walsh. They are all "my way" guys, not likely to do things Walsh's way.

                            Marriuchi will get work, fast.

The Cowboy story was horrendous, he killed two men who were trying to save someone trapped in a burning car, dragged one guy 155 feet, driving 100MPH through an accident zone.
I hope he gets the full 20 years for each count.

I don't know what he was thinking...

I do think Mariuchi can be a good coach. I'm actually glad they fired him. He would be a better fit on a more low key team with less distractions like Terrell Owens. I don't think he will ever win a superbowl unless he just has everything go right, but no doubt he can carry a team to the playoffs and advance in the playoffs.
