Well this puts a whole new slant on some who songs, particularly this one.
Rough Boys
(Print the Lyrics)
Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows her
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I very nearly missed you
Tough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I wanna see what I can find
Tough kids
Take a bottle of wine
When your deal is broken
Ten quid
She's so easy to find
Not a word is spoken
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I'm still pretty blissed here
Tough boy
I'm gonna carry you home
You got pretty pissed dear
Gonna get inside you
Gonna get inside your bitter mind
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I wanna buy you leather
Make noise
Try and talk me away
We can't be seen together
Tough kids
What can I do?
I'm so pale and weedy
Rough fits
In my Hush Puppy shoes
But I'm still pleading
Tough boys
Running the streets
Come a little closer
Rough toys
Under the sheets
Nobody knows her
Rough boys
Don't walk away
I very nearly missed you
Tough boys
Come over here
I wanna bite and kiss you
I wanna see what I can find!
I don't know if you have seen the clip for this but "our Pete" practically tries to touch up a few young tough boys playing pool.
I've always suspected he was a kiddy fiddler since I first saw that flim clip about 25 years ago.
Cased closed I'd say - that fact he used his credit card to access the site is pretty damning evidence that this was more than just idle curiosity.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Some years ago Townshend did an interview in which he claimed that the song Rough Boys was autobiographical, which led to some speculation that he was homosexual. Later he claimed that he had been misundersood.

Hmmm, so to investigate child pornography and supposedly fight it, he pays money to a web site that carries it, thereby supporting the child porn industry, and doesn't report it to the authorities?
He said that he had informed Scotland Yard about his "research", but they never contacted him.
I don't really know what to think about this, but I do know the man is innocent until proven guilty. I hope it turns out that he really was doing research, as I'd hate to see one of the greatest rockers of all time go to jail for being a sexual deviant...

Shi, while letting Bubba have a go at him in the prison shower is certainly a good idea, I think the death penalty is better than what child molesters deserve. That way kids will be safe from these monsters. Also, if a child is molested the parents will be able to tell the kid, "that bad man can't hurt you anymore, he's dead."
"Thanks to you, he's dead."
I somehow wonder if that isn't really going to help a child deal with sexual abuse, especially when the vast majority of cases involve someone who is close to (or in) the family. Of course the way this particular pathology seems to run, there is a decent chance that today's victim is tomorrow's victimizer. It seems to be the case with Townsend, if "Uncle Ernie" is any indication.
As for the porn, if I could be sure that people who are excited by this sort of thing would limit themselves to only viewing images and not molesting children, then I would be content to let it alone (viewing the images that is, making them is hideous abuse). But we can't be sure of that, in fact the porn may actually cause more second hand abuse by feeding the sickness.

Viewing child pornography is a crime. Are we to believe he didn't know?
At this point I don't think we know very much except that he used a credit card to access child pornography, nothing for certain about the Why. By his own admission, he did it because he wanted to see "what was out there." So perhaps he honestly didn't know what he was about to see. Heck, it could've been 16-year olds dressed up like little boys and girls for all he knew (16 being the legal age in the UK). There are affirmative defenses for possession of child pornography. It's not black and white. If he had been found to be actually manufacturing the stuff, I would obviously not be Mr. Nice-Guy right now. If the police find he has accessed child porn before, that would certainly negate the "I didn't know" defense.
Furthermore:
Should a person found with a few rocks of crack cocaine receive a harsh prison sentence? Many people say, "No, he should receive treatment instead." I happen to agree. I also think that a person caught downloading child pornography a single time (as far as we can determine) should be treated similarly. Townshend believes he was sexually molested as a child. For that reason alone, he needs to be treated.
"With our children at our feet and the morals that we worship will be gone"
"And now my nights ain't quite so lonely. In fact I, I don't feel bad at all. Pictures of Lily made my life so wonderful, Pictures of Lily helped me sleep at night... Pictures of Lily helped me feel alright."
"I'd pay any price just to get you... I'd call that a bargain the best I ever had."
"Girls of fifeteen sexually knowing.... pretty girls digging prettier women"

Matt Drudge just said on his radio program that a second rock star will be named in this probe. He say it comes from his sources in Scotland Yard.
Shall we start a pool?
My guess is Elton John.
