And that's game - England wins.

But something just as good - Michael Vaughn man of the match AND of the Series.

        Well done England!

About time we had a match that wasn’t over by the 3rd day.

By the looks of it, the 2nd half of the One Day series might actually become interesting, with England showing some form (well, their test side at least) and Sri Lanka kicking Australia A around a bit.

If we are REALLY lucky, the world cup might not be a white wash after all....

Vaughan fully deserved that, IMO. Played some fantastic shots .

I hope it's more exiting that the India vs. NZ ODI series at the moment *cough*match fixing*cough cough*

Heh. Look at the updated ICC test rankings - SA is first, Oz second, then NZ in third (albeit by a fair margin). It's really hard to tell which teams will actually put up a good show. Now there're signs that England might, but we can't really be sure how the other world teams would fare against Oz. Sri Lanka, India and Pakistan seem to be utter pants from looking at how easily they are beaten, especially by SA and NZ. But does this mean SA and NZ are in Oz's league? Perhaps the subcontinent teams are just really REALLY bad, and NZ and SA don't hold a candle to Oz.

But then I remember last year's VB series and look forward to SA, Oz and NZ meeting in matches again...

I'd hate to say it, but India seem to be match-fixing. Shame really, because NZ actually look good going into the WC.

However, I'm not willing to take my money down the betting store just on those stats.

I was at the ground. So the series ends: Australia 4, Umpire Russell Tiffen 1.

What're you complaining about? Aus still leads foreign teams in the "dodgy decisions" sweepstakes by a ratio of about 10:1.

Its just a shame Tiffen decided the game with dodgy LBWs'. Robbed everyone of a great finish.

Do they let him bring his guide dog into the ground?

Ever since the Aussie bowl, NZer's have hated them.

We only have a few good players, Aussie has a lot. I still think Ponting is their best player, is he in this year? I haven't been watching. I've only seen IND vs NZ, we won so easily, I don't know why they bothered playing.

Yes Ponting is in, and he's my personal fave Aussie cricketer as well.

Tiffen screwed England as well as Oz, just perhaps more Oz than England. I was personally very pissed off that he gave Vaughn out with such a blatantly wrong decision. After seeing the replay I was annoyed that Langer was dismissed the way he was too. He put on a great 170-odd at the MCG and you just hate to see such a great player screwed in such a way.

Did they use the third umpire in the entire last test?

Don't see how you can complain about the umpire AH when Vaughan was robbed on 183, and at the time it looked like no-one was capable of getting him out... out of the 4 lbws only Langer's was a bad decision, of the other three two were plum and the third was a good shout.

Incidentally I think Vaughan is playing better than Hayden. Hayden has done fantastically well, but he hasn't had to face the best bowlers in the world (because they're in his own side!). Would be interesting to see if Hayden could manage 177 against McGrath, Warne, Lee and Gillespie...

Langer would have gone for under 50 anyway. The other 3 were definate outs/almost

Tiffen hurt both sides. Trescothick in Melbourne, Vaughn in Sydney. Tragedy - he should have got his double century.

Then he gives 3 ridiculous LBW against the Australians which basically ruins the end of a great test match. The man is a fool and shouldn't be umpiring at international level. Both the England and Australian experts agree on that.

But England played very well and deserved to win - I take nothing away from them.

Now if you make Vaughn captain you might have the makings of a cricket side.

As for you Lindley, I'm not going to explain the LBW rule to you. If you haven't got it by now you never will.
