Its a very old saying, something about people thought that to cure something you just did more of what caused the problem. So if a dog bit you, you would put the "hair of the dog" that bit you on the wound to help you heal. The dog caused the wound, so the dogs hair was supposed to help heal it.
In the same way, alcohol causes you to have a hangover. Having "hair of the dog" (more alcohol) the next day is supposed to help you heal.I'm building a wagon! On some other part of the internets, obviously (but not that other site).Comment
