  • how do can I find out my soundblaster's specs?

I have a Creative Vibra 128 SB, and want to play an oldie game. I tried autoconfigure, yet it doesn't work. How do I make it work?

Cant say for the details just now but essentially you need to enable the SB 16 bit emulation (and I dont remember how I did that). It may have been installed with the sound card! Look in your control panel/system resources/creative misc devices (win98se/ME). The tricky part is that it has to be activated by assigning an IRQ to the emulator. Double click on the SB emulator, go to settings, allow LPT interrupt sharing (checkbox). Its been a long time since I did it so I'm a little fuzzy on the details but I think it automatically shares IRQ7 with restart (and thats what you want). That IRQ will be shared with the printer port.

It should emulate a standard SB, or a SBPRO automatically.

What OS are you using? If a windows version, I'd suggest looking in the system to see if the legacy simulation is enabled. As I said before, I know that my version of it required the IRQ change so I could play 16 bit nintendo games.

ok, weird. tried editing autoexec.bat, and entering a 'SET BLASTER' line, and a 'SET SOUND' line, but after rebooting the line is gone!

                      really? hehe.

anyway, now I've got this 'autoexec.bat' problem to solve.
