I don't remember Bill Clinton being "the man in the light" or being powerful in the Democratic Party before he won the nomination in '92. Seems some of us are forgetting our history.
Yes, it does seem like that. Clinton gave the keynote address in 1988, during Dukaus's campaign. He was the head of the DLC, which was gaining immense power in the party. He was a highly successful governor of a Southern state. He was definitely a good candidate, and someone 'in the light'.
Edwards has the same chance of gaining the Democratic nomination as Lamar Alexander had in the Republican nomination of 2000.
