The action sequences were cool, but Hayden Christiansen couldn't act worth a damn... and there was no chemistry between any of the actors. The only one who acted decent were Ewan and Chris Plummer... everyone else sucked.

Contrived dialog, bad plot and storydevelopment, predictable special effects, huge plot holes, disappointing battles.
So you are saying it was EXACTLY like the first 3 movies.
The funny part is that people believe the first 3 movies were well done! They were crap moviemaking, but we liked them because they were turn-off-brain-watch-cool-lightsaber entertainment! It's just fun to watch. Kinda like old style comics, good v. evil in hokey and cheesy situations.
The cheesiness is built in. I mean, look at the difference in quality between SW and Indiana Jones. Indy had a less cheesy plot and Lucas' direction was great in that series.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Lucas is the worst director of human beings ever, and only gets worse. This has been true since his early movies. In American Graffiti, the cars have all the real personality and the humans get the crappy dialogue. In THX-1138, the humans don't even have personalities, and Lucas caught a lucky break, since it is impossible for Robert Duvall to utter crappy dialogue."We are living in the future, I'll tell you how I know, I read it in the paper, Fifteen years ago" - John Prine

Empire Strikes Back is pretty decent, but on the whole you are correct.
Still, it's hard to find stuff (other than the Ewoks) in the original trilogy as bad as the "love scenes" in AotC.

I thought episode I sucked, but I thought episode II was the best so far except for episode VI (the very first movie). We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Episode 2 is far better than Episode 1 but what isn't? Episode 1 was appalling.
Episode 5 ( ESB ) > Episode 4 ( ANH ) > Episode 6 ( ROTJ ) > Episode 2 > Episode 1.
Episode 2 was far more actiony which helped but the dialogue was still pretty bad stuff, maybe he needs to farm that bit out to others and keep the whole creative overview thing himself.
Far worse was the love scenes between Padme & Anakin, I'm pretty sure the team weren't trying for the comedy angle but each time they had a scene together the audience when I watched it burst out laughing.
It was just soooooooooo bad.
Finally, when Yoda has to catch the pillar falling with the force he makes a massive deal of it being so heavy whilst keeping it up in time for them to escape. Yet in ROTJ yoda berates Luke for claiming his x-wing is too heavy to lift with the force. d'oh!

Hey, thanks you guys! Seeing this thread remeinded me to go out and rent the DVD. Frankly I think the last 2 Star Wars have been much better than the first three, if only because Mark Hamil wsn't in them. The guy who played Luke Skywalker makes Jar-Jar's act look like Sir Lawrence Oliver by comparison!"I say shoot'em all and let God sort it out in the end!

When they're in that robot factory thing, his arm is continually pressed down upon with presses and it doesn't phase him at all. The metal just conveniently moulds around his arm and doesn't hurt him...Exaggeration is the basis of hollywood action scenes, whether it is a carchase scene or fight versus time when trying to defuse a bomb. I'm sure the movie (like all the other hollywood action) has tons of other convenient things in it.
Why can't Lucas afford decent actors with his big budget? They sucked? They weren't famous enough? What's up?
