    BD:

But are we not all also the children of God? Are we not all also created in God's image? And frankly Jesus is not particularily a good role-model... a poor carpenter who never rose himself out from that position... who preached a slave religion...

    thanks

We are Gods children but we are not God himself. Jesus said "I am the way the truth and the light. Nobody comes to the father except through me." You should not try to judge God or his son, you are in no position to do so, because all have sinned and all have fallen short of the glory of God.

What a lousy troll. A few months ago Speer was claiming that the US should become a theocracy since Christianity is the majority religion of the US, and now suddenly he's a secular humanist.

When did I ever say the US should be a theocracy?

I love listening to people who say stuff like "Jesus will save us..." "Only jesus can give us salvation..."
To us, it is the BEAST.

Sava, as much as I dislike religion and a belief in an unprovable, superior god, the beliefs of others must be respected. In order to spread acceptance and equality, you really have to stop hating religious people, it causes more harm than good. You don't discuss religion, you just rail on it. And that will never get people on your side.

I don't hate religious people at all, I just think they're wrong. And I usually just use these threads to mock them ... Hate requires effort... I am very tolerant of other's beliefs, but in an open forum, I'm going to express my opinions.

It's social control... and if someone isn't smart enough to realize it, then they deserve to be lead around like sheep. Far Eastern religions are more like philosophies than faith-based religions. They focus on concepts and ways of life rather than putting your faith into an invisible deity.

And don't think I'm just a Judeo-Christian-Muslim hater... there are some very important morals and concepts that are taught in those religions and I think every child should be taught religion objectively. It's important to realize that the scriptures of these religions were written by mortal human beings and are myths and parables; fiction, not fact. Some may be based on real life events, but throughout the thousand+ years since they've been written, there's no way to be sure of their factuality.

According to Barbara Thiering, "The Riddle of the Dead Sea Scrolls", when Jesus said the only way to the father was through him, he wasn't talking about eternal salvation, only that the way to meet with the father of the community was to meet with Jesus first. The Essenes had a system where they tried to emulate heavenly and earthly hierarchies within their own community since they were not in charge of Jerusalem and the temple.

Religious people really crack me up, old grannies in particular. It's very hard to keep straight face when they are trying to "convert" me
