My uni (yes this is uni work, albeit only a first year refresher thingy) decided it would be a nice idea to give me 5 pieces of coursework to do over christmas. And besides christmas eve is hardly a sacred day to me... it's as good a day as any to do trig.
Advanced Maths is being able to do 42 x 39 in a couple of seconds, not remembering daft little formulae.
Actually, mathematicians are notoriously bad at arithmatic.
Both 42*39 and the trig formulas can be derived through a few short tricks. Juggernaut showed how to do 42*39, and cos(2x) can be expanded quite easily if you Taylor expand the exponential fuction of ix.
Mathematicians don't try to multiply large numbers or integrate trivial functions, but investigate the nature of things like the multiplication of reals and the integration of scalar functions, and see if they can determine any interesting things from them.

First thing you need to realise that I could be in a different time zone than yours. Basic knowledge, yes?
Second thing is, you are sad if you count punching calculator or doing mental arithematic as mathematic skills.
