  • Impress your friends! Sing Christmas Carols in latin!

I have this book that has a few Xmas carols in Latin. Enjoy!

    Nicolaus Venit as Nos
(Santa Claus Is Coming to Town)

    Attende ad te, noli flere
    Noli plorare ausculta me
    Nicolaus venit ad nos.
    Te videt dormientem
    Novit vigilantem.
    Novit agentem ben et non
    Igitur ne malus sis! Ergo!

    Adeste Fideles
    (O Come All Ye Faithfull)

    Adeste Fideles
    Læti triumphantes
    Venite, venite in Bethlehem
    Natum videte
    Regem angelorum
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
    Dominum.
    En grege relicto
    Humiles ad cunas
    Vocati pastores approperant
    Et nos ovanti
    gradu festinemu
Venite adoremus, venite adoremus, venite adoremus,
    Dominum.

    Tintinnabula (Jingle Bells)

Tinc, tinc, tonc, tinc, tinc, tonc,
    Tintinnabula!
Quam icundum vehere in ræda festiva!
Tinc, tinc, tonc, tinc, tinc, tonc,
    Tintinnabula!
    Quam icundum vehere, Io Saturnalia!
    Per nivem currimus
    In ræda festiva
    Per montes eximus
    Ridens omnia
    In equis sonora
    In animis soles
    In mundo omnia rident
    Pro Tintinnabulis Euge!

Rudolphus (Rudolph, the Red Nosed Reindeer)

    Rudolphus cervus nasum
    redbicundum habebat
    Quem si videre possis
    elucere referas.
    Lucificare cervi deridentes solebant
    Neque sinebant eum comminus colludere.
    Ecce dixit Nicholaus pride festum
    "O, Rudolphe, nocte hac
    visne Traham ducere?"
    Quam tunc iucundus fuit
    cervis iubilantibus!
    "Rodolphe," nunc dicebant,
    "Notus eris posteris."

    Volumus Hilarem Festum
(We Wish You a Merry Christmas)

    Volumus hilarem festum
    Volumus hilarem festum
    Volumus hilarem festum
    Et Bonum Annum
I hope I spelled them all right.
I drink to one other, and may that other be he, to drink to another, and may that other be me!

I didn't read them all, but "Nicolaus Venit as Nos" seems singable to the tune of the English version It wouldn't surprise me if the original was in Latin...
    "I'm a guy - I take everything seriously except other people's emotions"

"Never play cards with any man named 'Doc'. Never eat at any place called 'Mom's'. And never, ever...sleep with anyone whose troubles are worse than your own." - Nelson Algren
"A single death is a tragedy, a million deaths is a statistic." - Joseph Stalin (attr.)

It would heavily surprise me since it was written by Fred Coots and Henry Gillespie in 1934.

          Yes..... but, in Latin?

Adeste fidelis is actually a real Christmas carol. And the rest of them don't scan at all.
            I refute it thus!
"Destiny! Destiny! No escaping that for me!"

IDK, I think Jingle Bells is the best to sing for me.

Oh well, I thought it would be neat to post them.

Won't do me any good. None of my friends are from Latin America.

Cool, too bad you couldn't fit in "te" in "Volumus hilarem festum".

I sang some Latin carols to my friends, and they said "F*ck off, you're weird"

I can't believe that Thrawn05 would betray me like this.

Kind of reminds me those special editions of Asterix in ancient Greek.
