    • There is no chance in Hell.

She's too liberal. It's be like the Dems making Zell Miller their majority leader.

Also she's too old. You want a new majority leader that can stay in the position for a long time.

      • Oh I know they never would. Too bad for them, I'd think it would be a PR coup. The first female majority leader. And a Republican, no less.

        • I'd rather have Mary Bono be the first woman majority leader , but she's in the house.

          • Frist has the best chance of getting the job in case of a Lott ouster, IMO.

            • It is funny now. In public everyone is nice. Lott is a nice man, etc., in the back room it time to skin him alive. If he is smart he will step down Jan 1, 03 so they can elect another person and put this behind them a year and 10 mo. prior to the next election. If he does somehow stay the Demo. Will hang him out to dry starting next Jan 04.

              • Frist is a very interesting possibility. I'm not enthused about Nickles.

Anyway, the senate GOP should call Lott's blackmail of threatening to leave the Senate if he steps down from the leadership. I'm surprised at how explicit and public that this blackmail has been done and am not too interested in seeing something like this perpetuated.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

                • Nickels probably stands a pretty good chance of gtting the job. I think it'll probably just end up being too politically costly to keep Lott as Senate Majority Leader. Not nessecarrily to appease blacks, but to show moderate whites the GOP isn't racist.

And all I have to say, is please, please NOT Santorum...

                      Frist!

Seriously though, who would you like to see take the post in the face of a Lott ouster, Dan?

                      • The only person I wouldn't mind seeing on Sunday TV every week from now on would be Frist.

                        I'm shallow.

                          Santorum is a weazle.

                          Lugar and Hagel are boring.

Don't have much to say about Domenici, Stevens, and Cochran.

You think Dick Lugar is boring? His very name is laced with sex and violence, the foundation of all American entertainment! You can't get anymore exciting.

Seriously though, Hagel should be majority leader. Nebraska needs the pork...
