Yes mandatory. I would've liked for them to turn as into half decent soldiers. Instead I gained 15 pounds and got out to become unemployed. God that was ages ago...

There should be an an option for those of us that went through the draft lottery and were never drafted, since at that time it was mandatory and we didn't avoid it.It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

Eyes, they had a minimum uncorrected requirement.
I actually got laser surgery to fix that, but in the 6 months it took them to start processing my application I had settled into a comfortable office job, and lazy lifestyle that I didn't feel like giving up anymore
