Amber Benson's contract negotiations fell through. So Tara won't be returning any time soon.

Is there a source to this? I didn't know this happened.

Well, I got it from Ain't It Cool, but I'm sure I've seen it elsewhere on the Internet.

I'm apparently one of the few people that didn't absolutely love or hate Tara.

Ming, sod off! BtVS is a wonderful show, one that is well worth obsessing over and TV-wise, I would say that it is at least the equal to Babylon 5, if not more daring in form and structure. The man in charge of the show, Joss Whedon, understands TV and how shows should be paced and arced, and he has the confidence to succeed in things such as the musical episode and the episode where the characters couldn't speak for 40 straight minutes.

Btw, I have seasons 4-7 on video, the first 2 DVD collections, a number of season 5 and 6 eps downloaded and burned to CD (including the entirety of OMWF) and a number of non-fiction books about Buffy. My wife and I are big fans, and are always willing to talk Buffy.

Btw, the new season doesn't start until January in the UK, and there won't be any new shows in the US until January 17th, 2003.

                My fave big bads:

                Glory - You go girl!
Mayor - Laughed a bit too much, but did have his moments. Liked his confidence, too.
                Willow -
                Master - A decent start.
                Angel - Just leave, already!!!!
Adam - Was anybody really worried about this guy?

The ladies of BtVS, ranked by attractiveness:

                Good Willow -
Tara - She just needs some reassurance and some love.
Faith - For a good time, call...
                Buffy - Of course.
                Kendra - Rowr!
Glory - Probably a blast when drunk.
                Anya - Nice bod.
Cordy - Sometimes, personality does matter.
Drusilla - Hot, but Dru has too many "issues" to make a successful partner, if you know what I mean...
                Scary-Veiny Willow - Dude, you're scaring me!

Has anyone aside from me checked out the Metaphysics of Buffy site yet? It's an excellent site with loads of indepth details and discussions.

Amber Benson isn't coming back, which is why she didn't appear 2 episodes ago.

All have signed on to Season 8 except SMG.

Glory does have good minions, doesn't she? Remember Harmony and her minions?

"Harmony, we went to high school together!"

I liked the original movie because of the tongue in cheek nature. Nick Cage the vampire is terribly funny in his death scene.

I didn't really like Glory all that much, but I can see why gay boys might like someone as "fabulous" as she was. Personally, my favorite villans were the Gentlemen. No one ever creeped me out as much as they did, until the flesh eating whispering ghoul the first episide of season seven (course he looks like the Gentlemen). Drusilla and Spike were the best villains. Dru is still an awesome villainess in Angel. Love Dru. She could sire me anytime.

The villain this season is awesome! We don't even know who the heck it is yet, aside from being "The First Evil." The way it's playing with everyone, as someone different. Last night's episode was kick ass.

Amber Benson was cut. It wasn't that her contract fell though. Her character was killed for the story, like Buffy's mom. Giles has his own tv show in Britain. It's so weird to see Giles acting like a stud.

What does the character being dead have to do with anything? Nobody stays in the ground in Sunnydale, burial is just a big waste of time. She was planned to come back as some spirit/ghost/whatever.

I like Vampire Willow from season 3

Vampire Willow was fun, yes. Much better than evil veiny Willow.

From what I've read, Amber was cut permanently, in order to develop Willow's character and to build story. It may be the case that contract negotiations fell through for her to come back as dreams and images. But that's not why she was killed. It's too bad, cuz I really liked Tara.

Dino, yeah, the vampire last night looked like the Master, but not totally. And since the Master appeared to Spike in a vision earlier in the season, if they wanted it to be him, they could easily have done it. I suspect that ancient vampires all look like nasferatu. (Except for "that ponce" Dracula, as Spike called him. They could have done so much more with Dracula. ) I don't think that the new vampire is even the ultimate big bad this season.

I agree with you there, her death served to advance the story. I was just focusing on why she wouldn't be coming back.

I think Anya needs to go too. She's long since lost whatever value she added to the group from a story perspective.
