If you "accidentally" crush their hand in the process, then they tend to shake your hand normally the next time around.

I'm a small guy, but I've been known to have a tight grip, so I quickly learned to grip ONLY firmly enough that the other hand COULD NOT pull away UNTIL I have completed the Gentlemans' Handshake to my statisfaction (re: the other person comes to understand, "...just shake like any normal person! ").

we all had a good laugh.

anyway, i grew up in the suburbs of long island, there were some minorities, but it's majority white. people were always saying stuff like that, myself incliuded.

i think it's just funny to make fun of. like "fo shizzle mah nizzle". thats flurking hillarious.

I don't think there's much danger of me saying things like that. They'd probably sound odd when spoken in a Somerset accent.

They do it to rebel and be daring... in a completely safe, white middle class, merchandized manner. I.e., for the same reason that kids have been by turns beats, hippies, and conservatives.

The real kicker is when tragically-hip adults do it. I remember reading a Village Voice article some years ago in which film critic Amy Taubin -- a nice Jewish girl who was at least 40 years old at the time -- gave "mad props" to somebody. Ewwwww.

I'm sure she thought she was being self-referentially parodic. But of course, that is also a hipster affectation, which in turn is also... etc, etc...

                      Why?

Because they see it on TV, in adds, and hear it on radio.

Kids always latch onto something, you think they are bad, I can actually remember hippies.

It's the rich ****ers in the suburbs throwing out their silver spoons so they can be 'cool'... it's a disease they got. Ungrateful crackers...

it always cracks me up though when they come to the city and are scared as hell. My class went to a shakespeare play and there was these suburban schools there. This suburban girl asked me and a friend of mine where we lived and we said here in the city and she got scared, nervously asking if we was in a gang. Funny ****... especially considering in her little suburban world, she probably refers to herself as a 'thug mami' or some **** like that

                        thanks
