I guess it depends on your definition of cool. I voted Brad Pitt because he has played some of the funniest characters I've ever seen. Plus he was on Jackass with Johnny Knoxville and company. He's also been to bed with Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Paltrow... can't get much cooler than that.

    my fave Pitt roles:
    Irish Traveler in Snatch
    Tyler Durden in Fight Club
    the wacko in 12 monkeys

Seriously though, how could you leave Pacino off this poll. That was lame. Frank Serpico? Oh man.... SCARFACE? How is that not the coolest role of all time?

And where's Bruce Willis? Mr Die Hard? Butch from Pulp Fiction? And Last Man Standing was great also.
To us, it is the BEAST.

      No Pacino

John Goodman deserves to be on the list too.

As you all know, only 24 options are available, and only 23 when the "other" is considered. I'll defend my choices that you question, because I am the one making the poll . However, I will admit that I should have Sean Connery on there, perhaps in place of Jon Leguizamo.

I specifically chose not to include the following:

Edward Norton - from what I've heard, he's not a well liked guy in hollywood, and therefore not "cool"

Keanu Reeves - Ok, come on...why is this guy "cool"?!

Val Kilmer - Too much like Brad Pitt, not enough like his coolness

Anthony Hopkins - I just don't consider him a "cool" actor, but that's my opinion

Perhaps I should remove Leguizamo, Malkovich, and Voight, and put in Connery, Pacino, and Snipes

Jimmy...which ONE guy would you ABOVE ALL vote for as coolest...otherwise, stop flaming

I specifically left off Murphy, Carrey, Williams, and Hoffman...in fact, I had Murphy on but took him off

Dude, honestly, shut up, cause I have no control on the number of choices, and I already said which I would take off, so stop being childish

And just so you don't have to go through it all, here you go: John Travolta, Nicholas Cage, John Cleese, Mike Myers, Dan Akroyd, Bill Murray, Billy Chrystal, Ben and Jerry Stiller, Ben Affleck, Samuel L Jackson, Rob Lowe, All three Sheens/Estevezes, Sean Penn, Will Ferrell, Jason Lee, Chris Rock, the Baldwins, Patrick Swayze, 80's teen movie actors, 90's Shakespeare movies, and every actor in every superhero movie ever

I was actually thinking of Goodman in 'Big Lebowski' and 'O' Brother Where Are Thou'.

Yeah, Slater played Clarence (the lead character) in True Romance, but Pitt was in it too.
He had a very minor role - he was Clarence's friend's roomate: the one who was completely stoned the whole time.
I saw this film again yesterday and had forgotten that Pitt was in it myself. An unusually low-profile role for him.
If I'm posting here then Counterglow must be down.

He is not cool, he was cool...I have seen two of his movies: matrix ( ) and Bill and Ted's crazy journey (Don't know the english title, but that's the german title, translated to english)...that's a "cool" movie...

But as the thread title says: "who is the coolest actor..." then he doesn't deserve to be in

Also John Goodman was a good actor (He might still be, but it's been a while, since he has been in a good movie)...

Maybe there should be a thread (no poll), were you post your top 5 actors (Like they have with games in this thread...) from all time...that way, people can't complain about missing actors/actresses (Maybe have a top 5 guys, and a top 5 girls...)
This space is empty... or is it?

I said cool and sexy, didn't imply they were the same thing.

However, "coolness" is often a big part of being sexy.

Russel Crowe was cool in LA Confidential, although, and I'm sure I'm in the minority here, he sucked in that sucky movie Gladiator. Brian Dennehy and Vincent Gallo are both very cool actors too. I loved Buffalo '66 and Dennehy was a tour de force in Belly of an Architect.

How could anybody think Kevin Spacey is cool. He is a block of wood.
His best role was in Swimming with Sharks. Has anyone ever heard the story of him and Pacino in GlenGary GlenRoss? Pacino was so frustrated with Spacey's wooden demeanor, that before one scene, he smacked Spacey in the face, so that Spacey would be angry enough for the scene. Assault maybe, funny definitely.
"In Italy for 30 years under the Borgias, they had warfare, terror, murder and bloodshed. But they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and the Renaissance. In Switzerland, they had brotherly love. They had 500 years of democracy and peace. And what did that produce? The cuckoo clock."

Hehehe, I like the Marathon Man story myself.

In order to get ready for a scene where his character had been up all night running from the bad guys, Dustin Hoffman actually stayed up for something like 36 hours straight, and then dunked himself in ice to be cold and shivering. He then kept blowing his lines in his scenes, due to being so tired and cold.

Laurence Olivier asked him between takes what the problem was. When Hoffman explained, Olivier frowned and said, "That's very nice, my boy. Next time, why don't you try acting?"
