Yet you are willing to ignore up to 49% of the vote cast for the loser. What sort of democracy are we?

Oops, I mentioned God. Ethel won't know which thread to respond in.
This one is about the Electoral College.

Gee Jimmy wasn't it you that just said The BribeTaker was in the line of succession for the presidency?
Haven't you been paying attention at all? If the VP dies, there is no line of succession. The President nominates a candidate and then Congress can confirm or deny the President's nominee. If Cheney dies tommorrow (which is certainly possible), then Bush could nominate Gringrich as his new VP. If Congress approves, Gingrich is the new VP. The line of succession for the Presidency has nothing to do with it.
I'm not even paying that much attention to this thread and I knew what jimmy was saying. Try to pay more attention; you're making a fool out of yourself.
And stop calling Gingrich "Bribetaker" like it is some sort of suprise that a politician was crooked. There all crooked, not just Gingrich...KH FOR OWNER!
ASHER FOR CEO!!
GUYNEMER FOR OT MOD!!!

The founders did not set up the Electoral College to avoid one man one vote.
Learn your political science. The founders did NOT want one man one vote. They were very fearful of democracy.
They are not sovereign. The President should represent the people and not the states. We have the Senate for that allready.
The Senate is too little. I want more state power, like how it was supposed to be. And yes, the states are soveriegn over certain policy areas. They dictate laws on many, many, many things.
Just another States Rights over human rights arguement. Why should a synthetic entity have more value than real people?
Um, because the synthetic entity declares the rights of the people?
I don't see how your argument has any more validity. All you are doing is pushing one synthetic entity over another. Like the states are dictatorships. I'd rather go with the synthetic entity that is closer to the people (ie, the states) than the one that is farther removed (ie, Washington).
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

No, I did not. Can't you read?
We were talking about the vice presidency.
Were you aware that the Vice President is in line for the Presidency?
The Bribetaker isn't in office. He can't be the VP either. If he could he would be in line for the Presidency. The amendment covering all this is about the Presidency. The VP is in it because he is first in line for the Presidency.

Calling all politicians dishonest is just a way to avoid dealing with the ones that really are dishonest. There is a big difference between wanting power, looking for funding, and takeing an out and out bribe to vote the way someone wants like Newt did. Murdoch got what he wanted as well. Someone should have told The Bribetaker what Jesse Unruh used to tell the new members of the California legistlature.
"If you can't take their money, drink their booze, and screw their women and then vote against them, you don't belong up here." Well Newt didn't vote against them so didn't belong in the House and now he isn't there. Good riddance.

Ethelred, are you sure you want to continue posting on this thread. That was a clear indication of just how far out of your depth you are.
Sorry, but I could resist flinging your insult back in your face. You are wrong on the facts.
If Dick Cheny died Newt The Bribetaker Gingrich could not become VP. Even Bush isn't that stupid. Neither is Congress.
But I appreciate your passion and persistance.
Get rid of that dinosaur. Put it out to pasture like the Bribetaker.
