This isn't a case of the government protecting you from yourself. It's a case of the government protecting children from their idiot parents.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Personally I couldn't care less if helmets be on the head or in the store, but what I care about is the problem with the turban. By making the turban illigal, they either get out of the country, or become part of the country... I simply just hate, when people are walking around with a turban. Don't take this as a: "I hate all other religions than my own", but it gives me the feeling that they don't like the culture of the country they're living in... and if they don't like it, why should they stay? They should go to a place, that's more like them instead of the opposite of them!

I remember I once read an article about the turban, the turban was NOT part of their religion, it was just a part of their culture... I've said it before, andI'll say it again: "If you're moving to some other place with some other culture, then you should become part of that culture"...
This space is empty... or is it?

Helmets minimize serious head injuries as both of us already know.

City ordinances, or state governments require bike riders to wear helmets.

So, please tell where the HARM is in implementing safety through government legislation if you already knew that helmets minimize serious head injuries.

I think faithful religious members can go without whatever headwear they usually have on, for an hour or however amount of time they're on a bike, and then go back to their religious headwear afterwards.

That troll is way too obvious -- I give it a 0.05 out of 10.

I'd like to think that I'm quite tolerant to different cultures/religions/etc., and I'm certainly not going to lose any sleep over issues like this, but sometimes I do find myself thinking a little along the lines of ADG. I don't necessarily want to force people to conform to "our" (ie: Canadian) ways, but you do need to respect the place where you live. I remember when the whole RCMP turban thing was going on and sometimes I thought to myself "you know, the RCMP uniform is part of OUR culture. If there is some reason why your culture won't allow you to follow those traditions we have, don't join that particular institution".

I think the life of a faithful Islam is more important than that person dying in an emergency room, because they felt compelled to wear the turban for an extra hour.

Is there any part of the human experience that involves risk that the government is not obligated to protect by threat of prosecution?
