  • Questions about immigration to the USA

I've been thinking and I'm getting quite tired of this place for now, so I was thinking about moving to the USA for longer time, maybe for good. Reasons are many. I checked the embassy site and it said few things like to bring birth certificates etc to file the applications.
One thing brought sweat to my forehead. It said to bring police certificates also. Don't get me wrong, i'm not a criminal or anything, but i had a ticket other than traffic offence, nothing too serious though and some years ago. It must effect to it, I don't have a criminal record, but i'm still concerned. Quite obviously i have some explaining to do there?

So the question is finally, how hard this will make things for me? I have to stress out, that it's nothing very serious, and had only a fine to pay for it, but something more than swearing at public place . If i go through this procedure, what should i expect because of this?

It's not like i'm the next son of sam.

edit: Yeah.. sounds REALLY convining, doesn't it

Answer to any question: You don't really want to move to the US.

Victor, Useless answer! God damn you forever!

Perhaps someone who has immigrated knows best?
Ok, I think these things need to be done for green cards also.. so the same question for that one too.
I was just thinking if I decide to go for green card and visa first..

NO! YOU ARE ONLY PLANNING TO BRING DOWN WESTERN CULTURE! No, wait, you aren't a Mexican.

Hehe Stefu.. yeah sure. I'm planning to get a decent job, I know I'd be more good for the country than bad.
But you know, sometimes you have the feeling that you have to do something in order to be happy. Yep. I'm not there to exploit the damn place..
But back to the subject.. ?

Just what heck did you did you do for a traffic offense?

Those usually don't count as a criminal act in the US.

Naah no it was NOT a traffic offense . I said it was something other than traffic offense.

For all US government WEB sites you can get started at this one.

Find government benefits, services, agencies, and information at USA.gov. Contact elected officials. Learn about passports, Social Security, taxes, and more.

That will get you to any US federal web sites eventually. Its supposed to anyway.

                Here is the INS site

I may have to burst your bubble Pekka but unless you are a highly skilled worker you will have little chance of obtaining a green card and working here legally. Along with the regular immigration route (which will require you to prove that you have skills not possessed by americans) there is a "lottery" that chooses applicants at random with certain numbers allotted for each country/geographical area.

I've always HATED people who are fast to judge and say what's best for you even if they don't know you, your motives, anything about you really. Underestimated from day one, but I won't let your comments let me down or stand away in my dreams or goals.

I know you guys didn't mean anything by it, but I like to ***** and moan sometimes

OK i'll reveal some more to decrease the amount of useless answers. I possibly have a job in the US, I'm not sure if I should take it. Good thing is that I don't have to decide yet, I can go there later too if I want to. I know I need a green card etc etc.. and if I like it, maybe get a permanent recidency. I wanted to know if my past will effect on the process of getting green card etc. And where are the limits, as I said before, it was nothing too serious, but still.

Why keep us in suspense? What was your crime exactly?

...One little-known requirement: you must have (at least) eight fingers and two thumbs. If you can't provide the necessary ten prints, you can't get in. One guy with an industrial injury was halted by this for years.
