Only coordinated allied deception kept spain from allying with germany. That would likely hae meant the fall of gibraltar, and Nazi control of the Med and therefore Egypt.

Which makes you think we they didn't.

After all the Bulgarians didn't have these sort of reservations.

Dan, Spain had a fascist rule at the time. Much more closer to Nazi's ideals.

(as did Greece.... and still we fought on the Allies side...)

I don't know much about the Greek arena, but my point is that mercenary nations are just as useful as those fighting for a cause.

I knew spain was fascist, but I didn't know greece was. I thought they were a monarchy. Stupid me...

I guess so, although those fighting for a cause are always better.

Which brings me back to what I was saying. That no country (in its right mind) would want to do business with a guy like Hitler. Whatever the "promised" advantages.

Perhaps even some Germans on Deutsche Welle shoud be given extra lessons in geography. Have a look at Finland.

Now that's really frightening. The global warming has dried out that much land between the mainland and Alandia (my new English name for Ã…land).

Dan, Greece was a monarchy yes.

It wasn't fascist per se, but the Prime Minister was not elected but had taken the power by a coup.

Still he wanted to fight for the Allies and was proven to be an excellent strategist in the war. He was a general, Metaxas was his name.

The Palace (bavarian royalty) wanted Greece to fight for Germany.

I don't think it is. "wrong" is quite relative here. It is a bit bizarre compared to the real one, but it's still quite correct. look, the bottom right (yeah, southeast) peak is there, that tendency eastwards is also there, just more extreme, and so on... it's just a bit... what do they say... spoiled...

They felt it needed to be accentuated- it's finland's best feature.
