Beijing: Sure has changed a lot. The first time I was there was in 1981 when it was like stepping back into the 50s. Now it's like any developed city. In a couple of decades, it might be a great city.

Hong Kong: It's a great city for many things, but it doesn't have much culture. So that nix it for greatness.

London: Spent five days there. Nice place, great museums, good nightlife. Food sucks, but maybe I didn't hit the right places. Kind of humdrum and grey. London is a great city that has seen its day.

Los Angeles: More of an urban sprawl than city.

Montreal: Great bars, great music, beautiful women, lousy economy, dying city.

New York: Haven't spent much time there, but it is the city that everyone compares themselves to. But it also has a dark side.

Toronto: Okay I'm biased, but Toronto has great culture, fantastic food, a thriving economy, famous sports teams, great parks, basically everything that you need. No slums. Toronto is a great city.

San Francisco: This is one of the great cities of the world. Fantastic food, great vistas, people seem nice, decent culture.

Singapore - an incredible mix of cultures, languages and ethnicities. It's clean, verdant and you can find anyhting in the shops!

Plus it's just over a bridge from Malaysia. FULLY perfect.

A little to much control on live but that's the price to pay for the safety and cleanliness.

Why too much control on life.

The idea that you can find anything in the shops is total BS. A lot of stuff is still banned in Singapore: gum, magazines, books, movies.

If you order a movie from, say amazon.com and the movie has bits that the sensor don't like, they'll take the movie apart, cut out the stuff they don't like. Completely ridiculous.

The local media is pure propaganda.

Internet lines are monitored and censored.

Any list of Great Cities that fails to include SHANGHAI and SAN FRANCISCO is nothing but a perfidious hoax.

                    • Shanghai is definitely cool. I really like the way they closed off the main avenue to vehicles and turned it into a pedestrian area. Great buildings. M on the Bund has some of the best food in the world.

San Francisco is full of gays and lesbians. Never heard of Shanghai.

<--- Quote by Former U.S. President Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt
"And there will be strange events in the skies--signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And down here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. The courage of many people will falter because of the fearful fate they see coming upon the earth, because the stability of the very heavens will be broken up. Then everyone will see the Son of Man arrive on the clouds with power and great glory. So when all these things begin to happen, stand straight and look up, for your salvation is near!" --Luke 21:25-28
For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the call of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, all the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and remain with him forever. --1 Thessalonians 4:16-17

So are most large U.S. and European cities. And so what? We raise property values.
