  • US Army creates a computer game as a recruitment tool

Whether you’re interested in Active Duty, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard, there are many ways to serve. Explore the possible Army careers and contact an Army Recruiter.

"Little Billy was bored. He had already defeated America's Army at the hardest level in single-player, and he was the total king of the field in multiplayer. His mod project wasn't advancing, either, since he couldn't decide whether to concentrate on textures of PlasmaBlaster or on his planned Martian jungles. He decided to check the America's Army site to see if there was anything new happening.

"What's this?" Billy wondered. "An add-on? Gulf War add on? Official? With AIR FORCE? Oh man, I gotta try this!" Soon he had downloaded the Gulf War add-on and installed it. Tutorials on flying were easy enough, and soon little Billy was flying on Iraqi skies. Bombing mission, with Billy flying some kind of a fighter plane even Billy couldn't recognize. "Probably that new model Army has been keeping secret" Billy thought. Iraqi air-force proved no match to him, and soon he saw his mission target, Saddam's palace. He saw that the bombers could drop their bombs, and watched the desolation ("Amazing realism!") until he had to start flying back.

From the living room, his father was calling. CNN was reporting live from Baghdad. "You better come see this, Billy" his father shouted."

Answer to your next question is: "Yes, I've read that".

The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency

<Kassiopeia> you don't keep the virgins in your lair at a sodomising distance from your beasts or male prisoners. If you devirginised them yourself, though, that's another story. If they devirginised each other, then, I hope you had that webcam running.

You know, I couldn't help of thinking about this Ender guy when I read that post...

... but that was only a hash collision...

There where a couple threads about this a month or so ago.

And I still say it's despicable.

yeah, it was mentioned in the OG forum.

but i don't think it's despicable, if the US wants to provide me with a free game, then fine

What an interesting use of our tax money.

                      So is advertising, Osweld.

There are two games, actually. America's Army and another one whose name escapes me at the moment.

Frankly, I'd much rather our tax dollars go to create free video games than bombs.

They are, too. I feel the same way about any advertisement or reqruitments schemes for the military. 'though this is a bit more dubious then television ads, in my opinion.

                              And so?

Army uses propaganda to get more recruits. What is so wrong with that? You'd rather they conscript?
