I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. I'm from the US and don't know who that is.

Ashcroft would be astounded at his low face recognition.

Is it really that small? I can't tell on my large screen.

I don't know why I couldn't figure it out, it's not like he isn't on the news everyday or anything.

must have been a brain fart.

Well, for those who don't watch The Late Show, that's home security czar John Ashcroft. Ashcroft wrote a song with the lines, "Let the eeeaaagle soooaaaar/Like she's never soooaaaared before" and sang it at a press conference.

The clip made humor of the day spots on various news outlets. Letterman started showing the clip and inviting/challenging Ashcroft to appear on The Late Show and sing the song again. Ashcroft came on the show but chickened out on the singing part.
