Note how I wached it on tape delay since they did NOT show the game live here in the USA. I think it's the first game they ONLY showed on tape. I woke up at 6:15 in the friggin' morning to watch the game live and they decided to NOT show it even though it was scheduled to be shown on my TV listing guide. What was on instead???? Quail hunting! Quail hunting! Who's gonna wake up at dawn to watch quail hunting on TV? Quail hunting isn't even in season where I am, and they can't show the game live??? Aren't there a couple thousand American fans and English subjects that would watch this game at this time? Vent, vent, vent, vent, vent.......
Its the same thing today with the Ireland match. They also changed the channel of the live broadcast from ESPN2 to ESPN so I ended up taping 3hrs of Golf instead of the Germany-Paraguay match. Ba$*****!
Oh yes, England will 'wipe floor with Brazil' (for those that do not watch English Tv, this is the 'mood of the fans')
So far, England played a total of 30 mins of good football, most of it counterattacking cattanacio.
In any decent South American country Danish goalkeeper would be shot by now.
Yes the Brazillian defense and Goalkeeper has looked brilliant. Any high crossing ball into the box has been practically assured of a goal and thats despite that they havent played any teams with strong aerial attacks. I cant think of a single Brazillian WC team (and I've been watching them for a long time) where the Goalie wasnt a questionmark.
Thank you both Winston & Mad Monk for your gracious comments...
Perhaps Blackstone should take note and learn a thing or two?
Yes we won, yes two of the goals were goalkeeping errors. However we were the more dominating team on the day, and for those bleating about cattanacio etc, as was already pointed out - why do you need more goals after being 3-0 up? What, rub their noses in it? Do a Germany and humiliate the other side?
No, far better to conserve your energy and avoid yellow cards and injuries. If you think otherwise - then you're stupid! For example, anyone commenting about our game against Nigeria will note (and this was mentioned before the game!) that England went to play the stronger team on paper in Denmark in the evening as opposed to the very hot conditions that Sweden had to endure against Senegal - a team suited to those conditions. The team that won!
BTW, I find it particularly hilarious that the two biggest moaners about England's victory are a Greek whose team got stuffed by us in the qualifiers and a Serb whose team is decidely 3rd rate. Must've really stuck in the throat seeing Croatia and Slovenia in the World Cup without you being there! No wonder they broke away from Yugoslavia - they're doing far better without your sorry arses leeching off their talent!
So, you're in no place to dismiss England they way you do - we all know it's just a case of sour grapes!
As for Brazil, if it's the Brazil that turned up against Turkey, we'll walk it! They needed Rivaldo's pathetic cry baby act just to win...
Either way I expect the next game to be a brilliant match, if Brazil or Belgium win I will support them - if we are going to lose I want it to be the eventual winners of the World Cup that we go out to which has happened on two out of our last three WC's IIRC...
One thing's for sure - IMHO this is the best England team for a good number of decades! And remember, the plan is to win the 2006 WC - we're still in a 'building phase'...
So no more bad winners and certainly no bad losers, Axi and Russo!

True in '86 and '90. However in '98 England lost to Argentina, who lost to the Netherlands, who lost to the Brazilians, who lost to the French.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.
Well it was an impressive victory, especially with all of the goals scored in the first half. Let us hope they have similar luck/effectiveness in their future games, after all, they have a good chance...if things just work out for them.

Well they were crap for a past year or so and they have a shaky defence. However, no one, except, of course, gloating English fans (as Boddington put it well in his self posted, self quoted contribution to Battistuta's guestbook) would be sure to 'wipe the floor' with Brazil. On a good day, they can strike several past any squad.
Note the Irish: they played some really good, fast and fair football. They were much more fun to watch then ENglish. Their fans, in victory and defeat (at least on TV)
had fun and did not proclaim that Robbie Keane or Duff are 'gods'.
And Bod, England IS really crap. Ericsson put together the only thing he can manage with them...total defense. Brazil, Senegal, whatever, they will probably lose at some point. And I would like that to be on penalties.
Good defence is excellent after so many people were writing off Mills and Cole and talking about Ferdinand's tendency to make silly errors. Some of our players haven't really played up to their potential yet I don't think and we're in the 1/4 finals. If we get knocked out against Brazil then, well, who can argue? When you saw our group and that even if we got though we'd probably have to play France, then Brazil, then Argentina again no-one would have given us a hope of winning the cup, to get to the 1/4 finals is a great achievement and 2 rounds further than I expected us to get. I really hope we can play Brazil because it'd be a great game of football. I wonder though, if we did beat Brazil after beating Argentina would people keep saying we were crap?
The Irish were excellent and much better to watch than England, you're right, they were really unfortunate to lose.
