  • Ice oceans discovered on Mars!

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/sci...00/2009318.stm

It seems that Nasa has discovered ice crystals less than a metre below the surface of Mars.
This makes the planet even more likely to be colonised at some point in the future. Mars, here we come!

Unfortunately there's a bunch of idiots there who feel that the desert around them is worth killing and dying over, so I have to care...

I'm impressed. This thread took 5 posts to go from the discovery of more ice on Mars to another ME thread.

Thanks for the link and the Brits for breaking the embargo! I think this is huge.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

In fact, it might be too much ice for terraforming purposes...do we want a 90% oceanic Mars?
