          How about " They Live".

Not great acting, but I think the story, with good acting could be a really terrific movie. Of course, I loved it anyway.

Sci-Fi with Roddy Piper? How can you go wrong.

Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

End of Evangelion includes one of the best action sequences of all time. You will know it when you get to it.
I liked how the final two episodes were done. I liked many of the conclusions they brought. Others upset me, especially ones about the various relationships.

I have to say that I'm glad I didn't have the same feelings toward Rei that many people seem to have. I wouldn't have been able to handle that later on. Asuka though...

                --"The first English DVD."

That'd be the new sub/dub then. Which ever way you watched it.

--"Others upset me, especially ones about the various relationships."

Hmm. Not sure what you're going to make of the movie, then. There is quite a bit in there about the relationships. Basically, the movie is what's going on outside Shinji's head during those last two episodes.

--"I wouldn't have been able to handle that later on. Asuka though..."

Okay, so there's at least part of the movie you're going to love. I'd love to hear your opinion after you've seen the rest, though.

Personally, I always like Rei most out of the pilots (although she wasn't my favorite character).

I hope your are right. My main attraction to her is the many ways I can relate to her. If she develops in a direction away from that, I'll be really sad.

I'd love to hear your opinion after you've seen the rest, though.
I'm planning on seeing it Wensday, and hopefully about 3 or 4 times by the end of Thursday.

I liked Rei a lot, I'm just not attracted to her in the way most others are.

I'd give you more time to recover, but I'm going to be out of town (and away from computers) for a couple days as of tomorrow morning.

I bought G-Saviour for some unknown reason. That at least was better than I thought it would be. I wish there was more fighting in it though.

Yeah, US Manga's a little behind on their release. Two years or so (and no, this isn't a joke; their original release date was in 2000). Currently it's scheduled to be released around the end of September.

I just figured you were going to see it a con or something.

I'm going to buy some other series and then trade that for my friend's NGE series. What would you suggest is the best 13 or 26 episode anime that hasn't been on TV?

Depends on your tastes, of course. I can make some suggestions, but so far all I know is you like Evangelion and weren't too impressed with Akira.

Record of the Lodoss War is good fantasy. It's based on a set of novels based on an RPG session, and they really capture the mood pretty well. This is being released with some fixes on DVD soon.

I was going to recommend Excel Saga and Berserk, but they're just starting to be released.

Crest of the Stars is a 13 episode sci-fi show. Ending gets a bit rushed, but the story is solid and the characters are well done.

Nadesico is a good mecha/comedy series. Lots of anime in-jokes.

If you want a darker tone, Serial Experiments: Lain is great. This is one of those love it or hate it shows, so be warned, but I think it's excellent.

Key the Metal Idol is vaguely similar to Lain, but not executed quite as well. Still, if you like one you'll probably like the other.

Also consider Boogiepop Phantom. Name isn't promising, but it's a great fantasy/horror show.

If you're looking for something lighter, Battle Athletes: Victory is actually quite good. The first DVD is pretty slapstick, and there's a certain predictability to the plot, but the rest of the execution makes up for that (just don't bother with the last DVD).

Ranma 1/2 is one of the classic comedies, this one with a bit of martial arts thrown in (although that reverses after a couple seasons).

Slayers does a good job of comedy fantasy, but I'd wait for the rerelease that's coming up since they've fixed some audio problems.

Hmm. Cowboy Bebop is running on CN, and Escaflowne was run on Fox at one point (although terribly mauled; the DVDs are very much worth it, though).

Those cover the major ones available here that I've seen. I've also heard some good things about:
Now and Then, Here and There
                            Irresponsible Captain Tylor
His and Her Circumstances (just starting to come out)

So, really, it depends on your tastes. I think that covers most of the 13/26 episode US releases I can think of at the moment.

I'm into mecha stuff, so I'll probably look into Nadesico. I'll also look into Serial Experiments: Lain since there really isn't enough dark shows.

Yeah, most of the mecha in the US seems to be Gundam. If you do like both dark shows and mecha, I'll add Gasaraki to the recommended list. I've only seen half of it, but the mecha designs are the most real-life I've seen.

I've also heard good things about Armored Troopers Votom, but I haven't seen any of it yet. This one seems to be about to go out of production, so you can pick up the sets for cheap. I think it's got more than 26 episodes, though.

--"there really isn't enough dark shows."

You'll also probably want to check into Boogiepop and Key, then.
This is hopefully changing a bit, btw. It seems a lot more of the darker stuff is getting licensed these days. Berserk is one instance of this. Bastard! is another, but it's only 6 episodes (IIRC).
Stuff that's been licensed but hasn't yet been released to watch for would include Argento Soma, Noir, .hack//SIGN and Read or Die.
I'm hoping someone will pick up Infinite Ryvius soon, too, and I wouldn't be surprised if RahXephon (sort of a mecha show) gets licensed soon.
