Good call Che. I was trying to put my finger on what disturbed me about that scene. Other than the generic bad acting, of course.

Doesn't it strike anyone as strange that the gentiles seem to care more about this particular offense than the Jews do?

Just wondering Chegitz, did you also get offended at the traditional movie showing Germans as the chief bad guy?

Looks more like a piss-take mock-up than a proper European location. If it is Europe, I would guess the Netherlands.

You got it! It was in Amsterdam. I had to take a picture when I saw the signs on that place.

                        • Creativity and imagination are horribly poor these times on the movies' screens...
But if every time anyone do anything, there is thousands of people that will dissect everything in what was done just to look for something to be offended, I can understand the lack of personnality that new productions have these days.

When I see people that are disturbed because population in Civ3 is assimilated over time, or like here where people look for racist stereotypes to be offended about, I think all the more that PC is definitaly boring to death.
Darn, I did not even thought about this "antisemic stereotyping". It seems that it's noticed just by people who looks for it.

Get a life and stop being paranoids, pals. I'm sure you have plenty other things to do.

                          • Che, are you drunk again?

You know, I didn't even know Watto was a "Stereotypical representation of a Jew" until someone pointed it out, and I still don't see it.

Same here. Watto was Arab to me... hell, it fits, slave trader, accent, etc.

                              • Everyone:

That's ODD. When I watched "AotC," all I saw was Watto. A kind-of-ugly squattish alien on Tattooine (sp) with a broken tooth whose pursuits in life were less than altruistic.

Did I miss something? Was I brainwashed by George Lucas into hating Jews and/or Arabs? I am I now supposed to think less of Asians in general because some fictional characters in a fictional galaxy set far, far away and a long time ago had the "wrong" accent and the "wrong" look? Gee. I guess it was a mistake to see Trade Federation representativs for what they were — Trade Federation representatives.

If you ask me, the political correctness crowd sometimes is more guilty of stereotyping than those they point an accusing finger at. Particularly in this case.
