    BAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Sony threw around its money and got the GTA series to be exclusive to the PS2 from now until October 2004. Story here: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/360/360274p1.html

Which is annoying as hell, since development of GTA3 on Xbox had already been started and was actually formally announced in Feburary 2001: http://xbox.ign.com/articles/091/091863p1.html

I guess Sony's getting pretty desperate considering the "killer" games from the PS2 tend to migrate to the Xbox in improved form after, so they're resorting to this (kinda like how they invested hundreds of millions into Square).

No matter, MS is doing the same thing. And they've got more money.

I personally got an erection when I saw the Wario World footage.

I assume that doesn't affect the release of GTA3 on PC, which was today, was it not?

Wait a tic, did Glottis go to the 9th Underworld too? I'm sure he could be in a sequel; or perhaps there is some noir-ish intrigue in the 9th Underworld. Yeah, the characters were great, but the atmosphere was even better in GF... they should be able to build off of that.

I'm assuming it's from here on out only on PS2, and the PC version should be fine.

Hmm...don't think I'll be buying GTA3 in the store like originally planned now.

The Tim Schafer game is called "Psychonauts" and sounds... weird.

The video looks very impressive, and it's not nearly complete.

                  Seriously though, "weird" how?

Bold Prediction: Blinx will receiver higher ratings and more accolades than Super Mario Sunshine or Wario World.

Nice. Too bad it's Xbox only... Probably a concious strategy from Microsoft's side, I can imagine.

Yeah, let's give it up for the next superior platform hero, the gangster cat!

                          Good one.

And how is this any different than a pudgey Italian plumber?

At least read about the gameplay:
                            E3 2002: Blinx
                            The gaming revolution has arrived.

May 20, 2002 - Don't you dare call Blinx a platformer. This amazing game is much more than that. The word "revolutionary" and "innovative" are tossed around with abandon, but here they are truly worthy. Blinx leaves behind the 3D world and heads into the fourth dimension -- time. With his trusty TS1000 Time Sweeper (which looks suspiciously like a vacuum cleaner), Blinx must save the world from an evil that wishes to control all time.

Working at the Time Factory, where time is manufactured, Blinx is your standard mild-mannered cat. That is until some thugs kidnap a princess with the plan to jack all the time crystals. Those crystals allow a person to bend time to their will. Only on cat can stop the crooks... Blinx. On his adventures, Blinx will snatch some of those time crystals, allowing him to temporarily control time. You'll stop time, rewind, fast forward, and even record events. How's this possible? The power of the Xbox.

Blinx, essentially, turns your Xbox into a Tivo. As you play, your actions are recorded onto the Xbox hard drive. Certain crystals allow you to perform certain time-influencing actions. By collecting a certain amount of one crystal, you'll be able to, for example, record time. Blinx can record himself running around a corner and firing a weapon. He can then play that recording at a different time and a "ghost self" will perform that action, affecting the real world. Meanwhile, Blinx can still move independently. This type of application is used throughout the game. It is truly a sight to behold. For another example, let's say Blinx comes across a teeter-totter, but has no one to teeter or totter with. Blinx can use his time-controlling powers to have some fun.

The thugs who have kidnapped the princess have screwed up time. The worlds of Blinx are warped thanks to the imbalance in time. Night and day appear simultaneously, buildings are warped and crumbling, and there are a variety of environments to explore. Filled with 40 levels of time-warping mayhem, Blinx will have a very open world with multiple paths to explore depending on how you utilize your abilities.

The TS1000 is one of the most powerful vacuum cleaners in the world. With it, Blinx can cling to walls, climb vines, grab onto ceilings, and blow objects at his enemies. Of course, saving the world isn't the only thing Blinx as on his mind. He needs cash, and to get a little extra cheddar he can clean up the streets. That bonus change will come in handy when buying upgrades like power-ups and new Time Sweepers.

Blinx has immediately jumped high on the anticipation chart. The game is so innovative, so new, that it only needs to be released to succeed as a genre-breaker. Speaking of that release, expect it holiday 2002.
Meanwhile, a summary of Super Mario Sunshine is basically Super Mario 64 with "more things to do" (according to Nintendo's press conference themselves), and Wario World is a GC version of the old GameBoy games that focus on puzzle solving.

If either of those two titles supported non-Mario/Wario as the characters you'd laugh it off and call it unoriginal. But since it stars an Italian plumber it's the most innovative game this year....

Just watched the MS Press Conference, and it turns out in the first 5 months of each system life, the Xbox outsold PS2 and Gamecube (Xbox: 1.8M, PS2: 1.6M, GC: 1.4M -- as best I could make out the screen).

Even more amazing: 20 Xbox games have sold 100,000 copies ore more. In comparison, 10 GC games have.

And lastly, in the first five months of the PS2 and Xbox's life, the Xbox sold 70% more games than the PS2 did.

The North American launch truly was the most successful ever.

Hehe, I agree the time sweeping thingy sounds cool.

But it looks like a bland copy of a zillion other massmarket platformers. (A cat, how original).

Besides, it's just trendy to hate the Xbox.
