Yes, MikeH is correct. It's the nearest we have to a 'socialst party' in this country

1997 wasn't the date of the last election Rich.

MarkL, we do have exemptions actually. Time for you to learn some new things.

Well, seeing as how the English were the ones who settled America, would it not make the Americans an offshoot of English... and thus the English are more English than European?

I truly believe that America is the world's second chance. I only hope we get a third...

1997 was the year Blair came to power. I dunno what you did in 2001 mind you...who did you vote for Stewart?

              beat you to it.

I agree MarkL. We have a special relationship with the US because we are willing to stick our arse out to them, and they are more than willing to slide it up.
Rather sad. Sick even, considering you're the US' mother.

According to the BBC you don't.

MarkL seems to have gone quiet. It's not surprising he's jealous of the Uk and the US, there's not much you can achieve with a country full of Dutch.

Well, kinda. I'd be the first in line to be critical of the system in Britain, but IMHO it's not as bad as the US - if only by virtue of Britain being smaller so unable to be as awful

Seriously, though, the people in both places - and everywhere else - tend to be perfectly nice. It's just governments and companies I have bones to pick with.

the defining difference between US and Britain has been lost long ago.

Now they can easily be classified as the world's arseholes together.

About the people I wouldn't mind a brit or american ***** for practise.

There is still a distinct difference between Britain and the US, and if you think otherwise you should come and live here. Blair's not exactly with the majority viewpoint...

That said, I agree foreign policy leans too strongly towards the US, but if Blair tries to take the UK into a war against Iraq he's going to lose ****loads of support.

Speaking from a third person view there is no difference.

That's really sad. I don't want to be known as American like.

Meet me on the streets of westminster, it's time for revolution.

GDP per capita (at PPP), in US $ Year 2000:

                                Place 15 Netherlands 24,400
                                Place 21 United Kingdom 22,800
