Well, seeing as how the English were the ones who settled America, would it not make the Americans an offshoot of English... and thus the English are more English than European?
Dom Pedro II - 2nd and last Emperor of the Empire of Brazil (1831 - 1889).
I truly believe that America is the world's second chance. I only hope we get a third...

MarkL, we do have exemptions actually. Time for you to learn some new things.
Not on the steel thing.

beat you to it.
I agree MarkL. We have a special relationship with the US because we are willing to stick our arse out to them, and they are more than willing to slide it up.
Rather sad. Sick even, considering you're the US' mother.

Britain and the US = the world's arseholes
I resent that...
Well, kinda. I'd be the first in line to be critical of the system in Britain, but IMHO it's not as bad as the US - if only by virtue of Britain being smaller so unable to be as awful
Seriously, though, the people in both places - and everywhere else - tend to be perfectly nice. It's just governments and companies I have bones to pick with.

the defining difference between US and Britain has been lost long ago.
Now they can easily be classified as the world's arseholes together.
About the people I wouldn't mind a brit or american ***** for practise.
There is still a distinct difference between Britain and the US, and if you think otherwise you should come and live here. Blair's not exactly with the majority viewpoint...
That said, I agree foreign policy leans too strongly towards the US, but if Blair tries to take the UK into a war against Iraq he's going to lose ****loads of support.

Speaking from a third person view there is no difference.
That's really sad. I don't want to be known as American like.
Meet me on the streets of westminster, it's time for revolution.
