Yeah, that reminds me of my father. He grew up in the countryside in Brazil. There were A LOT of antics going on daily over there. He did some pretty dumb things, but on the other hand, he's gotten some really cool stories out of it 
. Of course, he also had one other element being thrown in that few people in the American heartland ever had to deal with : Communist insurrections and violent peasants destroying everything in their path. Yep, my dad used to carry two hand grenades in each pocket. If ever he was completely overwhelmed by a mob... just pull the pins. Sure, he'd die too, but he wouldn't be the only one!
