One of the problems with allowing "weaker" teams into the WC in order to promote football is that they tend to play very defensively so that they dont get embarrased. It tends to make for boring early games.

Hmmm Costa Rica and China have yet to be tested (except against each other) but I would think that Senegal have proven they belong (unless beating the prohibitive favorite doesn't count)

Exactly. And South Korea beat Poland. France and Poland were the first two Europeean teams to be assured of their place in the finals, and look where that got them .

Since Saudi Arabia made a decent performance against Cameroon England is now officially the worst team in the world cup except Holland... Oh no wait, Holland didn't make it...

Er... Saudi Arabia have no points and haven't scored and have conceded 9 goals, England played badly but still drew and scored in their only game so far. When we lose 8-0 against Argentina we'll be the worst team.
