  • Never trust a Brit used submarine salesman

So Canada decided to save some money by buying some used submarines from the Brits. It seemed like a great idea at the time cause everyone knows that you lose 30 per cent of the sub's value in depreciation the minute you pull away from sales dock.

But the Brits sold us some lemons.

First, we found out that one of the subs has a major dent on its hull (the Brits naturally say it must have happened after the sub left the lot).

Now two of the subs are in drydock with cracked engine valves.

Seesh, you'd think the Canadian navy would have checked this stuff out.

Canadians do know that subs don't go through ice don't they?

Thank you Tuby. I'm sure the Canadian submariners will remember to take that into account the next time they bag an American CVA in an excercise.

Not with a dented sub they won't!

And why do I have to be Tuby?
            Tub or Tube is better.

Sorry Tube. No offence was intended. I did not know. I should have.

Hey GP. Give us some of those Los Angeles class attack subs and see what some real sailors can do with them.

BTW didn't the canadians get insurance with those subs?

This is hilarious. What are they going to do?
                          Pay for the repairs?

Canadians had a chance to buy American made (new) nuke subs in the 80's. they bailed. Oh well. We patrol the arctic for them...

Actually, the deal is still pretty good for Canada in all likelihood. The cost of the subs and the repairs together will be far less than the cost of building our own.

And AMOF, yes. We are presenting Her Majesty with a bill.
