Yep, it is a devastating weapon. But in the end it is a political decision to use it.

You can put the death toll in the millions. My five million number may (or may not) be a little high. Chalk it up to a little hyperbole plus a lot of truth.

Well, that comes a little closer to 'carpet bombing' than the 'coventrizing' tactics in WWII

And they're actually celebrating the damn thing's construction?

Happy birthday to one of the nicest bombers ever built!

The B-52 is an amazing machine, despite what that commie Chegitz said. It is to maintain security in this world.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

At first, I thought you were talking about the B-52 band.......but the plane.

                Happy birthday!

Che; for the love of god...stop making these things up. B-52 wasnt in service during Korea and i'de put its victims somewhere about 1,000,000. We never carpet bombed any cities with it. Only enemy troops. They sure as hell arent victims. They were combantants.

Geeze Che, show some respect for a fine piece of American Workmanship.

My favorite plane since I was a kid, and still the most useful bomber in the inventory. Hapy birthday B-52, and death to the enemies of America!

The Viet Cong used to wet there pants whn they saw a formation of 3-5 of them. The Iraqi's and serbs even more afraid. The pay loads from those babies could kill anthing in a 10 football field radius. And make people outside the area, deaf.

Not that the people's government had anything to do with those deaths either I suppose. They way you make it out che is that the Pilots were flying around and had nothing to do and just decided to kill lots of people for the hell of it. Yeah its a bad thing. And I don't wish death on anyone after experienceing the death of someone close to me. But death is apart of the consquences. The B-52 is a tool. Nothing more. A remarkable tool without a doubt, but in the end just a piece of equipment used by men in response to other men.
Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

I wonder why B-1 never lives up to B-52's standard, despite being much more advanced and costly.

It's too expensive to risk in sustained operations, or to be used in numbers.
