Bloomy, Chipper's gonna be a LEFT FIELDER this year *wonders how Sandbox will fix this one*

    • Bloomy, Sandbox's ratings are not what I would consider great.

I'll put my pitching up against anybodies, and win a lot more then I lose.

Pedro is an injury waiting to happen, can't be relied upon.
My starters are all 200+ innings guys, plus two off the best relievers in the game.

2b is a weakness comparred to others, but for some reason 2b was a popular draft spot, which is odd, since you can only play one.
However, the guy I got is young and getting better, and can steal bases, a plus for points, plus he stays healty.

The Slackers are ready to go.

They won't... it's based on last year positions played. Nothing to fix

Make a case for the Slackers here.

          Clemens, Zito, Park, and Brown

And even though I was his scout, I had no say on his pitching choices... those fabulous picks were his own!

          • Can't you play a second second baseman as a utility infielder?

I'm still confused about this utility stuff.

            • Yes, you could... but most people would want to play a 1B or a 3B as a utility infielder... you know players with some pop in their bats .

              • My thoughts on that:

Clemens = Rock solid bedrock for the staff, but 20 again? Not so sure.
Zito = THIS is the guy that scares the bejesus out of me. Oakland's whole staff scares me (except for Mulder, since I have him)
                Park = Overpaid and overrated.
Brown = He's extremely talented, but let's see if he can overcome the injury bugs.

Verdict: Could be most talented staff in league - IF a lot of "if"s pan out.

                • Reis, I don't see a staff that comes close.

Park might be overrated, but 16 wins is a definate. Clemens will win ~18, and Brown, I bet, will win at least 16 and probably 20.

Much scarier than anything else I've seen in this league.

                  • Don't forget, I have Percival and Koch also, both 35+ saves guys, and both pitching behind decent to above average staffs.

                    • You can "GUESS" all you want on who has the best pitching staff... but at this moment in time, it's only that... a guess or opinion. The true test will be beginning soon. And when the smoke clears at the end of the season, then you will all know for sure... ME

                      • Ming you never have good pitching. We all know that halfway through the season at least a quarter of your staff will be looking at long spells on the DL... it's the Ming way .

                          But if they don't...

and that can happen to anybodies staff. Pitching can be such a crap shoot...

                          • But it always happens to you .

One of the reason I don't like Sandbox though is because EVERYTHING depends on pitching. I was talking to Chris about this. Way toooo easy to win your league just because you have a kick ass staff (and you don't really need anything else).

While there is some solid truth in that comment, with only an 8 man league (yes I wish it was bigger), the differences between the best and the worst staffs is not that great. Hitting will be more of a factor... It should be a very competitve league. Remember how close the football was when we had a chance to draft for ourselves
