  • Blair facing revolt over Iraq

Seems likely that not even Britain is going to aid the US in a strike against Iraq.

So much for "we'll rally the world". Nobody is listening, and nobody wants to help the US. Sure, I doubt the US needs the help, but it does show how "pro-American" the rest of the world is. In the end, it will only hurt the US when it finds itself alone and isolated without any allies to call on. Great going Shrubya!

Is it the fault of the US that our "allies" don't want to attack Iraq, or the fault of our allies for not seeing the need for it.

A rag-tag of Labour backbenchers isn't going to change Blair's mind.

Just shows your ignorance of British politics, Mark.

Personally, I found this story a little bizarre when I read it yesterday. In order to make any kind of large-scale attack, the American public would have to be consulted and at least a small discussion would ensue in the congress.

So this seems mainly like something to embarras Blair. Or whatever.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Scarily, that's a good picture of Martin Salter.

Besides, he's the MP for Reading.

Whatever good ever came out of Reading?

HA! If you wait from EIF to learn about politics in his own country you are in for a dissapointment

                        He's a fascistoid torry

MINISTERS threatened to QUIT if Blair keeps up his licking of the US arse (to use the british english).

                        MINISTERS are not backbenchers

It´s not just the back bench; there´s resistance in the government itself. Blair may be the only person in Europe who is still behind Bush.

The American yahoos happily waving their little flags might soon find out they are becoming a bit isolated.
