Well Ashers not joking about the mountains... they are a sight to behold.

I lived out in Lake Louise for about a year, and had the perfect job. I worked 4 days on and 4 days off, which was great. I pretty much went hiking the most of the time, and if you ever get a chance you have to hike up to Devils Thumb, as it overlooks Lake Louise, and a bit of the Bow Valley.

Lake Louise is pretty touristy, but much more woodsy than Banff, which is a total tourist town in the summer.

Another special sight in that area is Paradise Valley, its very impressive when you are walking in the forest, and then come around a bend and see this valley open up to you, with a little creek running down the middle of it. Tres beau!

Like asher says, it depends on the route. My route runs at intervals of between every 7 and 10 minutes from about 6:30 to 8:30 am and again for a couple of hours around 4 pm. the rest of the day the interval is between 15 and 40 minutes (late night) There are other routes that run hourly and some that run even less (some express commuter routes)

Although I do sometimes see other buses that are relatively empty, The one I take (Bow trail route 101) is invariably full and often has a full complement of standing passengers as well . I take the bus whenever I do not bicycle in and have to agree that the transit system works very well

You're right about Paradise Valley. The hike to Saddleback and Mount Fairview is also fantastic.

The Lake Louise ski hill is also incredible. Nothing like being at the top on a clear day with some nice powder ahead of you. Oh, I want to go back.

I worked at the Petro Canada... I believe it was in 95.

Did you get a chance to go to Johnson's Canyon? A great place to hike when there aren't too many people. I liked the Inkpots, and the location they were in. It was great to hang out buy the river there.

So did you do any climbing at the back of the lake? I wanted to but I was too much of a chicken.

What did you think about the small waterfall at the back of the lake? I really enjoyed it, it was quiet pictueresque.

No, I never hiked all the way through.

My sister used to live in Field. During the winter they would take snowmobile up to Lake O'hara and then x-country ski to Lake Louise. Sounds pretty crazy to me. The possibility of avalances would definitely scare the sh1t out of me, even if I had the skills to do it.

Didn't do much hiking around Johnson's Canyon. I just stuck around the Lake Louise-Field area.
