  • Ask me anything about Australia

And I'll try my best to answer your questions, possibly with the help of some other Australians on the OT.

    What do Dingos taste like?

Like normal dog, but the ones from near Ayre's Rock have a slight hint of baby to them

Given the opportunity, would the average Australian welcome a Canadian, American, or Englishian into their homes for a few nights' stay?

              Yes definitely.

There was an official looking letter which circulated just before the Olympics in Sydney which said the householder had been selected to host a family from the Middle East. You were expected to buy a herd of goats and set up a tent in your back yard

That was not a yes/no question. It was a PickTheParasite question.

Given the choice, probably an American. We like Americans. Canadians would be seen as the same as Americans.

We have a love hate relationship with the Brits, who are famous for being miserable company.

Why isn't Australia a republic yet?

You know, I just happen to have two questions I've always wanted to ask an Australian:

                      1) When did you guys change the national anthem to "Waltzing Matilda," and why? (For what it's worth, my wife and I both think it's the best national anthem of all.)

                      2) At whom is your animosity directed over Gallipoli: the Brits, the Turks, or both?

Why was my girlfriend turned off when I suggest we do this?
