  • I'm going to America

After a long in depth discussion with loads of planning and though with David Floyd, I've decided that I will most likely be going to America this summer.

Texas on my high priority list, and I'm looking to go for probably 2 weeks now (due to poor finances) and I'm looking to make it cheap as possible, i.e any of you good people putting me up... showing me round etc..

So I'm considering travelling probably late July/August... I need all the help I can get as I know practically nothing about America.

There's actually not much of interest in Texas...at all. Except for people.

Places I'd go visit would be the New York area, California, Florida, and somewhere in the Rocky Mountains (This is a must). I'm partial to the Canadian Rockies because they tend to be bigger and more beautiful.

If you're ever near Montana/Idaho/BC/Alberta let me know and we can arrange something.

I'm in Montana, too! If you're up here, let me know. There really is some beautiful country here.

Texas . . . in the summer? You are a masochist, aren't you? Can't say my neck of the woods is much more comfortable, but at least I can go swimming in the ocean to cool off.

Ignore Asher, Texas hill country is some of the most beautiful land in the world. Plus, there's all of the Apoylton Texans to meet.

Personally, depending on how long you have, I'd hit LA, Chicago, and New York. I'd go to Yosemite, Yellowstone, zip north to see the Big Sky Country, DisneyWorld, and Washington D.C., and whatever Apolytoners are in the area.

I'd much rather see the country than big cities to be honest. New York doesn't interest me in the slightest.

I love hot weather, chilli and tacos too

What I'd like to do is actually drive over there, but I'm not sure how that would work.

Driving across the ocean doesn't work.

You gotta credit card and a license, you can rent a car. Just remember, we drive on the right side of the road, and we use milage, not kilometers.

                  We use mileage too

I'd probably like to start off in Texas, spend 2 or 3 days there, then take a scenic route to wherever next.

Rocky Mountains are an absolute must. Colorado is a nice place to visit if you want to get outdoors a bit.

How many places have you been in the world?

Texas is nothing special, certainly not worth the huge transatlantic fares, unless you have LOTS of people there to visit.

You must be 25 to rent vehicles, no?

If you still really want to go to Texas, here's the route I suggest:

                          Texas -> Colorado -> California -> Washington/Oregon -> Montana -> Alberta/BC -> Home.

Would that route be do-able say on £1,000 and 2 weeks?

at some places you do have to be 25, but not all. And don't listen to asher, he is speaking from ignorance! Texas is unbelievable. The countryside is fantastic, the people are friendly, the women are beautiful, the clubs are great, and It is pretty much everything all rolled into one. You are more than welcome to stay with me a day or two if you'd like, and I can show you around Dallas, Houston or Austin. Oh, and did i mention the women? The food is the best anywhere too
