I think he meant non-American - Far-right wing Americans automatically assume that any organisation that isn't dominated by the US is out to enslave everybody in the United States
'Arguing with anonymous strangers on the internet is a sucker's game because they almost always turn out to be - or to be indistinguishable from - self-righteous sixteen year olds possessing infinite amounts of free time.'

What is up with these UNHCR advertisements on Apolyton? The United Nations is a corrupt organization bent on pressing leftist and anti-American ideologies on innocent people.
QUICK!! GET YOUR GUN! Reports about UN troops in the hills of Minneapolis are flooding in!! They're taking over!! Shred all your paperwork as well!!
Well, lets just imagine my question is not hypothetical then...

I've got a gripe about Apolyton.

Why, then, are you supporting them?
What do you smoke (or drink or eat) at Minneapolis ?

BTW, considering that webmasters are a Greek and a Canadian, would they really need to care a flying fiddlestick if they were promoting organization with anti-American values?
...
OK, they would need to care a bit, but point still stands.
Anyway. "UN is evil" line of thought is bit hard to understand. For one, UN is too ineffectual to press on their undoubtedly evil goals. And, while ineffectual, UN does do lot of good - it has all these treaties, for instance, that America can refuse to sign, thus causing the anti-American trolls to stay firmly in their compters typing furiously instead of being on streets and behaving on scurrilous manner.
But really, UN is basically good though bit ineffectual organization. It's like getting mad at crutch-using fluffy bunnies.
Of course, funny thing is, should there be a WTO ad, no doubt we'd be soon hearing "WTO is an evil organization pressing anti-democratic and neo-liberal values on innocent people" all around.
"Spirit merges with matter to sanctify the universe. Matter transcends to return to spirit. The interchangeability of matter and spirit means the starlit magic of the outermost life of our universe becomes the soul-light magic of the innermost life of our self." - Dennis Kucinich, candidate for the U. S. presidency
"That’s the future of the Democratic Party: providing Republicans with a number of cute (but not that bright) comfort women." - Adam Yoshida, Canada's gift to the world

What specific things do you hate about the UN? Peacekeeping? Feeding and sheltering refugees? The fact that it provides a place to settle international disputes?
I don't really expect a response. Me thinks we have a troll who should be ignored in the future.

I have to say that from what little I have seen of rmsharpe both here and at Civ fanatics - he is a total and complete idiot.
Oh, you're all laughing now, but when the Blue Helmets come to your house, rape your family and steal your cattle, you'll understand...trust me, I know all to well...

The UN is dominated by the US. (This is the most valid reason to dislike the UN, btw.)

Free Slobo, lock up George, learn from Kim-Jong-Il.
The United States is the largest contributor to UN and that's why it gets frustrated with it. Because of the voting system, the U.S. feels it doesn't have the influence it should. The exception is the Security Council where the vetoe keeps the big powers happy.
There have been proposals to change the voting to a system where votes are weighted according to the size of a country's contribution but these proposals have never got off the ground.
The United Nations was created by the United States but it is probably better if it is a genuine global forum rather than a U.S. puppet body.
In many ways, the problems the U.S. has with the U.N. mirror the problems the U.S. has with dealing with the global community. The world out there is complex and resists U.S. attempts to simplify everything to we're always right.
