The terrorists weren't seeking for a large amount of casualties but giving a strong blow to the American pride and public security by hiting symbolic buildings like the WTC and the pentagon. Fortunately for them and unfortunately for the rest civilized world they additionally caused the death of too many people.

Bull****.Osama wanted to kill as many as possilble. thats why they struck around 9:00 The buildings are full at 8:00 I belive?

As far as im concerned.....3000 too much people died on 9-11. Each one of them important as the next..

If a symbolic building happens to employ thousands of poeple then better for them but as markusf said they could chooce other ways to cause even more deaths.

Besides why the hell they dropped an airplane to the pentagon?
And how come they choose WTC? Nobody could know that they would collapse.
Along with wall street, WTC was the economical symbol of the US, a field (economy) which most people consider as responsible for the Middle East issue.

we had a thread on this not too long ago. It was a troll attempt I believe. But it had some truth to it.
That was my thread called: "Sept 11th: historical non-event?" or something along those lines.

BTW, where on earth are Omar and Osama? I haven't read about their whereabouts in over a week now (beside bull**** claims that is).

Ok....The World trade Center, while called that, actually had hardly any Global companys in it.

95% were finicial firms or Insurance companies

I hardly consider it the economic symbol of the USA. The Hoover Dam was always the one.

this is stupid I cant believe people buy into that stuff ... its like the Zionist conspiracy all over again....

The real ME problem is not us or Israel, its how the arabs view themselves and there nieghbors.

the problem my dear faded glory is how some disturbed arabs view YOU.

I justify them in large part in how they view you but I do not justify the actions of their religious fanatics.

the WTC was a symbol of US economic power to the world. and that's all that matters: how the world views you, not how you view yourselves.

                  Not really....

Ask most americans what they think of Europe they would come up with a few nasty words. Vice-Versa....

Its always more important to look to yourself to answer your own problems. You cant always count on your friends, they might not want to help.

And you! No matter what we do, Cosmetically, they will always hate us. Why? We support Israel. If the little arabs cry babies cant deal with that

It is all a matter of interlinked interests. What can you do for me? What can I do for you?

Chill out faded. I'm not accusing you of anything. I'm saying that if you want to know why the WTC was hit and not another building you have to understand how these al qaeda bastards think.

Actually what faded is trying to say is that many Americans are busy trying to feed their kids, make the morgage payment, make the car payment, pay all the other bills and still have a little left over to relax just a little bit before going to work the next day. So you will have to excuss most of the country for only paying attention to what immediately affects them. Would it be nice to have most people aware of the causes of resentment towards Americans? Yeah it would. But people like my mom had more immediate concerns when I was growing up than complex issues behind the Iran Hostage crisis, like putting food on the table and filling the car up with gas. If you have the time and ability to keep up with foreign events, then good for you. But don't expect others to have the same free time.

It sounds like you are saying Americans have to spend more of their time working in order to pay for the basic necessities of life. Interesting. It would seem that your economy is inferior that that of other more enlightened countries.

Sorry for the troll Sprayber, but I couldn't resist.

well we are not all slaves of our credit cards debts yet. true. if this is a curse it remains to be seen

and I'm not trying to be a smartass. it depends on where you live. for example you seem to be in a glass globe where SOME news never ever reach you.

that may be the same with the EU or Greece. we may live in a glass globe where SOME news don't reach us.

but I don't think I'm saying something difficult to grasp here.

why the WTC was attacked? because it was a symbol of US economic power for teh bastards who attacked it. what is there that is difficult to get

BTW there is a logical vacuum there Garth.

prosperous people are supposed to have the luxury of getting informed about other things than just their small secluded worlds in contrast with the poor which are preoccupied with making it through

                          every country has mythomotors.

they usually go something like that: we are inoccent. we have done nothing wrong. we are better some bastards are trying to harm us and they are always wrong.

it is the same the world over, you are no exceptions

and note: I'm not talking about al qaeda. These are bastards that need stopping. I'm talking about the feeling that exists amongst people in every «western» country which (don't be surprised here) are just like everybody else, live like everybody else and think the way everybody else thinks

Who's the governor of Michigan or North Carolina or Idaho?
That's like asking who the mayor of Lyon is on the scale you brought it down to.

I'm glad to say that you have to go back to the 1860's to find a war in North (not Central or South) America. And that was a civil war. What continent other then Australia and Antartica can say that.
Argentina didn't have any wars between 1880 and 1982. And mind you, that wasn't technically on Argentine soil either.

Well, no... the Bundestag is in the Reichstag. Isn't that obvious ?
                            Ehm... no.

A related topic: was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand significant?
It technically lead to the cold war. I'd say yes.

What this nuke has to do whether WTC is considered an econimical symbol or not?
Are we discussing the same subject here?

It is natural that most companies there were American but quite many were Departements of foreign companies.
Even the National Bank of Greece had a departement there.
Not to mention that people over 62 countries were working there (most Americans though)

The fact is that outside US, WTC along with Wall Street was considered the modern American economical symbol.
