  • I'm a settler? Hey, I'm a settler!

Settler? Thanks for putting me down. Apolyton seems like a nice place to settle down (since I'm a settler).

Before engaging in any amusing discussions I should like to know if there is anything I should be aware of. I've been observing the threads for a few days, but you know, is there anything only Apolytoners know that I should know?

I guess this is the ultimatum and these are the demands that must be met

A.) Any nasty posters (I like to call them parasites) I should be wary of?
    B.) Anything unpopular on Apolyton?
    C.) Anything popular on Apolyton?
    D.) Anything else?

    Thanks!

Harpax. (Still need to experiment with the sig!)

Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Anyway, why don'cha tell us 'bout yourself? Country of origin? Musical tastes? Religion? Political leanings? Do you have any particularily perverted and amusing habits?

                2. Yes.

                4. Yes.

Ooh, ah. I should probably try to qualify those answers a bit. Er, there are several trolls, spammers and various other lowlives on Apolyton. I'm not allowed to personally attack anyone, I believe, but when a poster named "Giancarlo" returns from his current two-week ban (for expressing his desire to fire rounds of live ammunition into a Gay Pride parade) you might see some rather, er, interesting threads popping up.

'Poly is generally quite a genial place, and ill-spelt, ill-concieved personal attacks are not top of our priorities. Nor, unfortunately, is crude, spammy humour, though I personally appreciate it and go to sister site Counterglow for my fill. Everyone will accuse you of being a Troll, a Spammer or a DL, but that's as it should be. Oh, by the way, "Hi! I'm new" threads are usually the surefire hallmark of the Double Login, so I have to take care of some ritualistic stuff now. DL! DL! It's so obvious. Bah! Ahem. Sorry about that.

Compared to most other forums I frequent, there seems to be more lighthearted political discussion here than in most places. Find political opinions from Pseudo-Fascism to Communism via extreme, Randian "libertarianism" all engaged in chummy banter. There is probably also a more diverse cultural spread than in most places, with substantial Finnish, Scandinavian, Israeli and Australasian contingents. I'm Swedish myself.

Common Newbie mistakes: Arguing against MtG and expecting one-line answers, arguing against Wiglaf and expecting logically sound answers, arguing against Giancarlo and expecting mature answers. (We like to argue.)

                    I'll dance, anyday! Tango anyone?

Double Login? Maybe that should have been my handle, eh?
So I have to go through boot camp first.

I live in the one and only greenest city in the world; Toronto, Canada!
BTW, what's the ethnic makeup of this site?

Musical tastes? Everything that has soul, a beat, a rhythm. Music genre doesn't matter. Even some rap is good (beatwise), but I just can't understand the lyrics! I know I'm not the only one with that problem.

                    Country of Origin? Maybe later.
Age: Stopped counting at 3000. Seriously, I might reveal my age later on but suffice it to say, I am neither a teenager nor an old man.

I guess you want a cheesy bio? Sweet! Well, here it is. Brace yourselves.

I was raised a Catholic but I have deviated from this faith to the point where I believe Jesus was a religious zealot who married and had children. There goes my faith! I am an admirer of colossal yet simple architecture (lots of concrete! ), and firmly believe in efficiency, simplicity, and practicality. When having nothing to do, I love to observe people as they go about their daily lives and respond to mishaps. I love sports that test one’s reflexes: Ping-Pong, badminton, tennis, squash etc, as well as swimming, hiking and mountain biking. I am interested by and take up all things. The concept of a universal human being greatly appeals to me. And yes, I am open minded, but then again, everyone says that.

Perverted and amusing habits? How cute! I like spying on people.

To say more would be rude.

                        A. Well nobody is exactly nasty... there are some forum people that we make fun of, though. Wiglaf and Giancarlo are often made fun of, partly because of their republican views, which brings me to my next point.
                        B. If you're a conservative, prepare to get blasted. There are a lot of liberals here. Only Bob Dornan and I, and a couple others will help you out. If youre a liberal, you can join the 80% majority.
                        C. There are some famous threads that are like a continual series. We've had a whole bunch of Uh Huh threads, where you post your favorite song lyrics, and even more Coffee shops. I started a dynasty thread that has been done four times. Only once by myself, but I was the original.
                        D. Any newbie that posts a "Hi, I'm new" sort of thread will be called a double login, which is not allowed on this forum. So don't be surprised at all the people who accuse you. Also, don't be surprised at the strange opinions on this forum. There are people who think that girls are slutty because they've kissed someone. Probably the person with the wierdest opinions is Boddington's. Another thing - people here have horrible music taste. They like things like New Zealand heavy metal music. And one more thing - this forum is 95-97% male.

Stefu, have you been here since 1970? That must be a bug in the programming!

Politics is the biggest ***** in the world. It's the cause of the world's problems.
But since it has been around for a few thousand years I must accept it. Actually, my political stance differs depending on the situation. I'm not a fence sitter though, well, sometimes.

I would like a sig. I noticed some funny dude had alot of smilie faces in theirs. How come no one else has smilie faces in their sigs? Nothing fancy, a quote will suffice.
