Definately conservative but, from the few shows of his I've listened to, I wouldn't put him anywhere near PB's league when it comes to conservativism though.

So what happened to all these government people who violated numerous laws? NOTHING! I'd say a definition of tyranny is when government can ignore the laws it writes while imposing laws on the rest of us. When will the monster you Democans have created turn on you?

Berzerker, we've jacked this thread. You can't have it back now.

Most of Harvey's stories aren't political in nature. They deal with ordinary situations about famous people.

Che: Many in the south argued that the KKK was just protecting white Americans from blacks and jews. Never mind that they were thugs and murderers. You can spout the line about the black panthers all you want, but in the end they were just thugs and murderers who some thought were cool. The black panthers did as much for civil rights as the KKK did.

There was a recent article in the Washington Post about the states increasing police powers. I will see if I can get it.

                I'll just post the link.

Basically it says that giving state police units more power is a bad idea. And that it should be left to the national government.

Che is mostly correct about the origons of the LA SWAT and the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense. The BPP started out doing things like giving food to poor people but were persecuted by COINTELPRO. Part of this included infiltrating the BPP and getting them to fight each other. To compare then to the KKK is racist nonsense. My source for all this is a history course I took a year ago which focused a lot on the 60s.

So did Al Capone. He was persecuted by Federal Law Enforcement as well. My source is a history class I took that covered Prohibition extensively.

                        Ted -
If they just handed out free meals without expecting anything in return, fine. But they fact that they are doing it to influence people favorably towards them makes them even more shadier in my book.
Do you feel the same way about "government" handing out meals?

So, Ted, you DON'T think that NOT having social welfare programs would be bad PR?

Let's face it, many social programs are kept in place because politicians want votes - Social Security, anyone? Politicians couldn't care less about old people, except insofar as old people vote.

The reason Social Security benefits aren't meddled with, as an example, is because the old people would collectively vote out the politicians involved - come on, you know that.

But yes, I'd remove every social program on the books in the US - SS, Medicare, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc., everything, on the basis that they are unconstitutional.
