You guys have no idea how frustrating this is. Calling me a dumbass, a loser, etc doesn't amount to an actual, valid arguement.

A troll doesn't have to be wrong. Or bad. After all, people piss off themselves when they overreact to my posts by ranting off one line "screw-yous" instead of worthwhile responses. I've got nothing to do with it. The interesting subject matter prompts confusion, and eventually leads to anger, which then prompts the next logical thought: I must be the source of your anger. Nothing but an evil bastard troll who went against the flow. Which is unjust. Everything in my first post was accurate and to a certain extent, thought-provoking. The definition of a troll needs a quick change, cause I'm sure as hell not one. More like a free thinker.

    Anyway:

    Read a newspaper.

A British SAS squaddie was critically injured before Christmas whilst storming a Taliban strongpoint. He survived. Others in his unit escaped serious injury due to their body armour.
I'm interested in your definition of 'critical'. Link?

Its not their war. Its our war. They're doing their stuff in Europe...where they've arrested (I believe last count was) 250 conspiritors.
Its our war UNTIL we're promised support. And HTower, my earlier post you quoted was right on: I predicted a month ago that they were in it for the politics, and now I'm here in January showing just how right I was. Our guy is dead, still nothing.

Look beyond the "buy me a ticket" arguements for a sec and you'll see that.

But that being said, no one has mentioned the most interesting fact about this casualty: he's the first American soldier to be killed by the enemy! All the other fatalities have been the result of friendly fire. So when you say, "we're dying out there," you really mean "we're killing ourselves out there." It's not clear why we should want anyone to join us in that.
Explain the prison riot that killed our CIA officer. And explain why none of your troops have had any accidents, or a downed chopper. Or a poor cruise missile. You aren't fighting, and that by itself is horribly wrong.

You have to admit they have a point. Do you have any idea how excrutiating or offensive your comments. I know people, friends of my family, who are in the marines who are currently in Afghanistan. So just take your stupid, filthy mouth you turd and f**k off

You're full of ****, you like sense of sensitivity. You really are one of the most despised people on Apolyton. You give a bad impression of your countrymen, your fellow countrymen dread it when you put your big mouth in it and say something stupid.

Find any British paper Wiggy, any site, it will be on there. I am sure you are capable of a web search, although with that feeble brain of yours I somehow doubt it Critically injured, you know, within inches of being killed but was lucky. Take a hike.

There are troops in there of ours, in fact, British forces make up the biggest force in there doing the peacekeeping as well as involved in the operation. Here's a link that you can ram up your arse and f**k off with!

Because the forces we have used have been more covert, eg, SAS or other secret services, to hit at the core. It is something this countries special forces are good at.

Now go away Wiglaf, go back to your nursery and learn something

I'd just like to say 2 things:
          1) Wiglaf's an idiot. As an American, I think it's fairly obvious that the UK/Canada/Australia are good friends. France, however, may be invaded by Germany again and be ruled for a thousand years of darkness for refusing to let the USA use its air space.

          2) We don't know if nay other forces have died. It's possible it's classified.

          3) Not to insult the guy, but this is only one soldier. That's incredibly good. More have probably died, but the ratio's still heavily in our favor.

          4) Bin Laden's against the west. He's said so himself; he wants to unify islamic states and use it to dominate the world. Most extremist islamic groups express similar views about world domination. Do some research.

Wiglaf, for once I agree with the people here. You are loud and highly uninformed. You make a big deal about a US Solider dying. Well, take a look at the facts: The United States toppled the taliban with two deaths unrelated to accidents, one was that CIA agent and the other was the Special Forces Solider. Two deaths! Now that is quite something. In total there was 8 or 9, perhaps 10. The Taliban on the other hand probably lost thousands of their militiamen.

I do feel that Europe, Australia and Canada are doing the most they should be doing and displaying it in an adequate manner. My counry Spain is going to dedicate some troops to the peacekeeping operations, because it wasn´t necessary for us to join in fighting such a small enemy. The US Marines and Army could handle it themselves.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

For the benefit of those who don't use links...

Four British soldiers have been wounded in Afghanistan, Defence Secretary Geoff Hoon has disclosed.
The wounded men were airlifted back to Britain for treatment and none are thought to have suffered life threatening injuries, although one was seriously hurt.

There was no word of how the soldiers were injured, although it is thought likely they were special forces as they were not from the contingent currently stationed at Bagram airbase.

BBC defence correspondent Paul Adams said: "That to me suggests that these are special forces operating somewhere else in Afghanistan."

He said it was possible they were involved in a gun battle near the northern city of Mazar-e-Sharif over the weekend, when eye witnesses claimed to have seen British troops operating on the ground.

A direct result of the situation being better than anyone could have predicted rather than worse

                  Downing Street spokesman
Mr Hoon also confirmed UK soldiers are being stood down from their 48-hour notice for mobilisation to the region.

Mr Hoon said most of the 6,000 British troops on two-day standby for possible action in Afghanistan were being stood down from their high alert in the wake of the widespread collapse of Taleban control.

The defence secretary paid tribute to the "professionalism and gallantry" of UK soldiers working inside the war-torn country.

With such a first post, it's quite impossible for me not to respond to this thread, but I don't have time to read everything, and I'm sure you don't want my input on something that was said around the 20th post, so I'll start from somewhere in the middle.

"Everything in my first post was accurate and to a certain extent, thought-provoking."

-Maybe if you're some sort of redneck ultraconservative American. Otherwise, it falls just short of being an honest attempt to provoke a debate. It really is a crappy troll.

"Our guy is dead, still nothing."

-You insist this is a war, but whine when ONE soldier dies? You know more people were killed by drunk drivers on America's highways on the same night.

"You aren't fighting, and that by itself is horribly wrong."

-Given America's foreign policy it is hypocritical to expect other countries to stick up for it.

"France, however, may be invaded by Germany again and be ruled for a thousand years of darkness for refusing to let the USA use its air space."

-Ummm... France has nukes, Germany doesn't.

-Just because they lost one war really quickly... doesn't mean they suck. (Especially not in my EU2 game, where I've beaten England into submission, and force vassalized it by 1460, and who for some reason actually likes me now.)

Ugh. The little that they're doing is all for public relations, and hardly for strategic benefit. Really, why bother with ten cruise missiles the first night and have nothing to follow up after? Because ten cruise missiles is apparantly more than enough to win over people like you, Gian. And it's much safer than losing people to an ambush, helicopter crash, or prison riot. No, only Americans can die in this war. It's sick.

I whine when one American soldier dies while the brits, aussies, etc send nothing but words and 'peacekeepers' after promising much much more to the public. One very immoral PR move is what I'm pissed about.

We have provided you with lots of assistance, and now my own country has the leading role in restoring order in Afghanistan. All you seem to be concerned with is is how much you can blow up F**king warmonger.
