This reminds me of a quote I remember seeing once.

"Europeans view Americans as rude, arrogant, bloodthirsty barbarians, while Americans view Europeans as arrogant, elitist, idealists. The ironic part, however, is that both parties are right."

            Culturally:

Americans making less than $50k a year view the whole rest of the world as dying to be American.

Americans making more than $50k a year are dying to be anything other than American.

Although it's embarrassing as hell to be an American ("our transcendant cultural gifts to the world: SUV's, talk radio, and Barney") , I gotta admit, the only thing worse than being a citizen of the world's most annoying and self-important superpower is being a citizen of any other country, likely to be bossed around by the world's most annoying and self-important superpower.

I've been to Finland - very interesting country. Strong Russian influence. I didn't find the Fins very friendly but I really liked the short time I had there. It was very novel for me because you can't really get much further away from Australia than Finland.

Do you live in Helsinki Stefu? I took the ferry from Stockholm to Helsinki and back again.
Any views I may express here are personal and certainly do not in any way reflect the views of my employer. Tis the rising of the moon..

Look, I just don't anymore, okay?

Unfortunately that perception doesn't stop hoardes of Swedish backpackers coming out there every summer.
