  • Yeah, but York is a primitive backwater town

(realises those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but what the hell, I like the sound of smashing glass )

So is everyone ready? 12 noon in the Wetherspoons in the train station in Leeds, whatever it is called. I am trying to talk Matt Higgs into coming but he is dubious about whether he is working or not...

      • Just had a scary thought?

Do any of your northern pubs sell southern beer. I don't want to be drinking Boddingtons or Tetleys when I could be drinking Spitfire or ESB.

        • Isn't "southern beer" an oxymoron?

Seriously though, some do... I imagine that each Wetherspoons' pub would have a wide enough choice to include something vaguely southern.

The Deramore Arms near the University serves Greene-King of all things...

          • Greene King in Manchester? Now that's something

In Hull (aka sh*thole) you'd be called a right pooftah for drinking Southern beer, although to me a good pint is a good pint (ie, not lager ), I'll drink southern or northern. You just have to take the twigs and birds nests out of the southern beer

              • Ok, I'm not working on Saturday.

So I may be able to come.

The only thing now is transport. I could drive down?

                • Higgsy, if you're driving, would it be possible to pick me up at The Trafford Centre? I'd contribute to petrol if you wanted. I can be there for around 10:30, 11:00ish...
