Are you deliberately being obtuse? Apple does not hold a monopoly (in the accepted sense, which you seem to be unaware of) in digital music. Nobody does.

If Apple actually does manage to sustain a 90% marketshare in digital music players like this, it IS illegal, just like the MS anti-trust trial. Granted, Apple is more blatant about it, so the trial would be shorter.

If that happens, then I won't complain. But no one has shown that Apple has pressured anyone to do anything. They simply decided to sell their own player and tie their music store to the player, because they believed, as most people did, that there is no money in online music - it is a loss leader. Microsoft agrees: their store is a loss leader for their software ambitions.

People are not forced to buy music from Apple's store. They can rip their own or steal it off the internet (as most do).

But I doubt this will happen. Apple will no doubt license out their scheme once they have entrenched themselves. But I have no idea, I am not privy to their plans.

If you knew anything about the stock market, you'd know this has absolutely nothing to do with the stock being overvalued.

Except it wasn't, as todays results have gone a long way in demonstrating.

Most end users on their pathetically slow Mac Mini might wonder why it's taking 4 minutes to import a single song into iTunes...

It doesn't even take that long on my modest G3.

I'm not the only person with most music in WMA format, and I'm definitely not the only person who thinks PAYING Microsoft for the WMA license (they needed to do this to decode it with iTunes legally), and then not exposing that functionality to end users is stupid.

Of course it isn't. Why should Apple just give the results of its own hard work to a rival company? That's insane.

They are "playing" with Microsoft, and Microsoft gets revenue from Apple for it. The only thing is, Apple is not doing what's in the best interests of the consumer, which is allowing them to play WMA formats in their original format and sound integrity.

The only people really complaining are trolls like you. Apple owns the HD player market, so this cannot be a real disincentive to people buying their products.

Apple is a ruthless monopoly, a strategy that gives them a great start and then shrivels up over time into a tiny minority as people grow tired of the Apple-only solutions...

Help! Save us from the company with single digit marketshare.

You have no idea of what they will do in the future, and neither do I. So stop this juvenile speculation.

I look at the Mac mini, and I hate it. I would never buy a computer like that. It looks like a peice of junk and is stupid design. To me buying this mac anyways is a complete wast of ones money.

That machine will run the iapps and play video just fine. Apple makes the whole thing, and I have never come across a machine of theirs that didn't work perfectly performance wise with the OS and apps it shipped with.
