I think we are finding that the numbers only include those bodies that have been officially counted by the authorities to this point. They do not include Areas that have not been reached yet, including part of the west coast of Sumatra, some of the islands, and a few areas in SE Sri Lanka. Nor do they include those presumably washed out to sea/missing. In certain areas bodies may have been counted but have not been added to the "official" numbers due to lack of coordination on the ground.

possible figures of 400 000 even? omg.. I was thinking early on without knowing anything about anything, that maybe it rises to 100 000 and that's the worst it can do.. but not knowing anything that is. Just out of my head.. but possibility of 400 000.. is this BEFORE all the diseases and people who are at risk of dying in these next few weeks or is this not taken into accoun to these figures? Anyway, holy hell, over 100 000 confirmed is already .. 400 000? You can't find a word in english language to that one.

Well, its obvious some major tectonic events are ongoing in this part of the world.

there has been absolutely no contact from the maldives.


Wow.....There are also 3 volacanos that have become active. I dont want to speculate any relation. One is in Siberia the other 2 in the pacific.

Or in some places, there are no survivors to count the dead. Imagine what happens to an island, 1 meter high, if a 5 meter wave washes over it.

If an Earthquake hit Boston, I'd think "WTF?".

If a tsunami hit Boston (only plausible by way of asteroid), I'd think "Where's Bruce Willis when you need him?!"

We have other things here, like Nor'easters, Hurricanes, Blizzards, and vacationing New Yorkers.
