Italian cities are certaintly worth a look - I have been to Venice and Firenze, and both were very beautiful and full of well-preserved old buildings.

(Assuming it is culture, history and architecture you are looking for:P)

Otherwise Copenhagen has a reputation for great night life.

Prague is out. It's packed with tourists, prices have skyrocketed, and it's just too commercial. Instead, I would suggest Slovenia, and then down the coast of Croatia to Dubrovnik.

That's my plan for next summer.

Prague is great if you like tacky knocking shops and lots of Brits vomiting everywhere.

I've heard a few good things about Krackov (Poland) or Sofia (Bulgaria) but Prague's days as a must see, unspoiled bit of Europe are gone.

Unless of course, you like cheap whores and the smell of puke. Well, it takes all sorts to make a world...

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is he neither able nor willing?

That's a suggestion I will stand by as well.
For there is [another] kind of violence, slower but just as deadly, destructive as the shot or the bomb in the night. This is the violence of institutions -- indifference, inaction, and decay. This is the violence that afflicts the poor, that poisons relations between men because their skin has different colors. - Bobby Kennedy (Mindless Menance of Violence)

New Europe is the term Rumsfeld coined when he referred to our allies in Eastern Europe that backed us in Iraq

I was thinking Eastern Europe because it's an unknown area that I don't have any preconceived notions about it, and also it might be alot cheaper since the dollar is getting it's ass kicked right now.

Har har har. Most of them use Euros to so you still have exchange problems however prices will still be lower then western Europe but no where near as low as the mid to late 90's.

Rumania, Bulgaria, Former Yugoslavia (other then slovinia), bulgaria, and all of the non baltic state former USSR still use local curriencies but the rest of new Europe is in the single currency.

Personally, I'm going to miss the days of the late 90's when I went wondering around Europe with guilders, lira, pounds, & D-Marks in my pockets.
